I do t know if they tried to attract drunk young people, or if the demand from drunk young people drove the hours. But the being drunk and eating Taco Bell is a tradition. It’s also associated with stoners to a degree (possibly because individual items can be bought separately to satiate the munchies). The food isn’t cooked in the individual locations, just heated. This results in easier consistency between locations and the lowest instances of food poisoning among fast food restaurants. Taco Bell also seems to trigger niggeritis (lethargy after a large meal) more than other fast food.
