I really hope mercosur turns into an eu style economic block. We help broke that deal with the EU and we are working as central hub for all the individual deals and stuff going on behind the scenes. But we will see what happens.
>>
>>536389738
I would love to see Mercosur evolve into something closer to the European Union, not necessarily as a copy of Europe, but as a South American project built around our own realities.

When I imagine it, I do not immediately think about parliaments, treaties, or bureaucrats signing papers. I think about getting on a high speed train in São Paulo and arriving in Buenos Aires hours later. I think about freight crossing borders without endless delays. I think about highways, railways, ports, power grids, and fiber optic networks connecting the continent together as if it were one large economic space.

I imagine a future where a company in Brazil can easily hire someone from any other country in LATAM, where university students move across the region without mountains of paperwork, and where investments flow more naturally because businesses know the rules are similar across the bloc.

One of the things that fascinates me most is infrastructure. South America often feels enormous and disconnected. We have vast territories, major cities, abundant natural resources, and hundreds of millions of people, yet moving goods and people can still be surprisingly difficult. A deeply integrated Mercosur could change that. Instead of countries looking outward first, toward North America, Europe, or Asia, there would be much stronger links between neighbors.
>>
>>536390372
By the way, we may have the first high speed rail in the region. We are making plans already, getting the funds and looking for companies to build it. We are or were even working with Costa Rica because they want to join the project and connect to it.
We technically are planning two lines. A cargo train line and a highspeed transport line, all the way from Panamá city to paso canoas, at the border with Costa Rica. It's supposed to start construction soon™, it's all plans anyways but there is a strong basis to build this and people are in favour of this mega project (it's a mega project to us).

all of europe except russia fits in probably less than half of brazil, and argentina is about half as big as brazil but just as long.

these are massively vast distances, its not like traveling around europe where most countries are the size of a single US state
>>
>>536396007
>these are massively vast distances, its not like traveling around europe where most countries are the size of a single US state
That's true, but look at China. It's continental in scale. But people still travel, trade, study, and work across vast distances because infrastructure exists. Also, most integration could happen between neighboring regions.

>Southern Brazil trading more with Argentina and Uruguay.
>Western Brazil connecting more deeply with Bolivia and Paraguay.
>Northern countries becoming more interconnected.
>Universities and businesses having easier regional mobility.

Like, if we look at it this way, Argentina is closer to São Paulo and Uruguay than São Paulo is to northern Brazil.

>>536395441
>We will never achieve this unless we thoroughly enforce complete cultural and ethnic homogeneity (aka kicking all the whitoids back to Gayrope)
I don't think so. Many Europeans contributed greatly to our communities and countries. Just look at all the Nobel Prizes Argentina has won, or at how many Europeans migrated to Argentina and helped develop its cattle ranching industry.

thats fair, im not saying its impossible. but the distance from the top of south america to the very bottom of it is as long as the distance from the northernmost part of africa to its southern tip. thats double the distance it takes to cross china
the distance gets even more absurd if you wanna include central america and mexico. and the northern parts of south america/brazil are also dense jungle, which i believe is one of the reasons for why that region is generally so disconnected from the rest of brazil. i actually lived in manaus for a few years a long time ago and everyone there said manaus didnt feel like it truly "belonged" to the rest of brazil due to how isolated by distance and jungle it was.

then theres the logistical nightmare of making a multi country effort, with our banana republic monkey politics, work. but yea not IMPOSSIBLE, just highly highly unlikely unless latam gets its shit together, and cmon, you really holdin out hope for that in our lifetime?
>>
>>536400456
>you really holdin out hope for that in our lifetime?
Maybe not in our lifetime. Maybe not even in our children's. But every generation inherits the consequences of what the previous one believed was possible.

If everyone shrugs and says "it will never happen," then it truly never will. Every developed region today was once poor, unstable, corrupt, divided, or all of the above. Change takes decades, sometimes centuries.

I don't have blind faith that we'll wake up one day and see a transformed Latin America. What I do believe is that if we don't start building toward that future now, then when exactly are we supposed to start? Another generation from now? Another hundred years?

Someone has to plant the tree even if they know they'll never sit in its shade.

WTF. Chile is the best country in LATAM. There's a reason you don't meet Chileans outside Chile that often, they usually don't want to immigrate.

i suppose it has to start somewhere. but seeing how corrupt and kiked the EU is do we even WANT to emulate it? are you suggesting an equivalent of the euro?

also keep making the latam generals, if you do it enough times itll probably stick eventually. with more brown or indigenous girls in the OP image pls, ty

>seeing how corrupt and kiked the EU is do we even WANT to emulate it? are you suggesting an equivalent of the euro?
I think we should emulate the parts that are actually useful, such as infrastructure, public transportation, urban planning, sanitation, and the preservation of historical architecture, rather than trying to copy every aspect of European policy. I would definitely not support high taxation, poorly managed immigration policies, and decisions that appear to prioritize ideological goals over the interests of the native population. In my view, Europeans have shot themselves in the foot more than once by pursuing policies whose long term consequences were either underestimated or ignored.

>also keep making the latam generals, if you do it enough times itll probably stick eventually. with more brown or indigenous girls in the OP image pls, ty
I'll keep making them. I'm not a coomer, but I'll tell you, these images are hot as fuck, LMAO.

>>536402765
Same with my country. Most only see one in vacations, for business and study. The very small diaspora outside of Panamá is mostly located in jewsa and half of that is from burgers who were actually born in Panamá rather than Panamanians who wanted to leave the country. There are like 50k panamenians outside of Panamá in the entire world or something like that.
>>
>>536406100
be pragmatic, if we get our own general it could serve as containment and attention would be diverted away from whatever other thread youre in or dont like.

>>536405975
im just distrustful of that kind of centralization of lawmaking power. it makes it very easy to completely slopify latin america with globalist interests. which is exactly what theyll try to do the moment we have that kind of system in place.

in my opinion latam needs to fix its many internal issues first before that kind of system could go into place without ending up in some dystopian shit.

> I'm not a coomer
whether thats true or not, every general uses anime girls to catch peoples attention. adding some more brown/indigenous representation to the girls you use is both appropriate because its latam and also im asking because i have a type nigger so do me a solid and dont fill the general with nothing but generic "white" girls. arigato goza e mas, brazuca

There are other parts of Chile that are very beautiful as well, such as Valparaíso, Viña del Mar, Puerto Varas, Pucón, and Puerto Natales. I know that it's not perfect, but Chile has been steadily improving.

I lived for a year around parque Bustamante , near el hospital del trabajador. That was around early 2000s. It was comfy there back then. We could walk for hours in that park and reach a completely different part of the city. Sometimes I wish we have long ass days here as you have there but we could definitely cook if the day is extended by just one hour, lmao.
Panamá is turning like that in some areas but it's been slow steady work. The best in the region anyways, not saying much but it's better than most.
So how is santiago around that part I mentioned right now?
>>
>>536411040
Spend some time in valpa. It was nice though it's a fucking maze of hills and narrow streets. Or at least it was like that back then.
The water on the beach is absolutely cold tho. Fuck that shit is extremely cold compared to how it is here. That Humboldt stuff tho.

I have a friend from Chile and I was surprised by that as well, I was talking to him once through a videocall and it was like 8 pm and the sun was shining brightly. That's not common around here, the sun starts setting at 6 pm.

that's were the apex of the commie protests took place during covid, wouldn't wanna be there during that time, it's back to normal now, I think, haven't gone there myself but the entire city has more street vendors and bums, that's about it
>>
>>536410720
They try to do that in every general. /uhg/ spent 2 months in /pig/ constantly screeching about Russia until they realized they weren't going to stop being told to fuck off, now it's just full of miggers which are at least tangentially on topic

>>536411325
That's Panamá bay, in the Pacific. Our lakes are all surrounded by jungle because they are related to the Panamá canal.
>>
>>536411851
Damn, that sucks. There was a nice ice cream store around the area I mentioned that sold a nice lucuma icecream. There was also a nice bakery that made some really tasty square bread.
Back then the worst you had were street vendors selling pirate CDs of music, movies and shows, also pee cee and plebstation one gaems. Shit was okay, got so many pirated plebstation and pee cee gaems there. We didn't have many pirated gaems vendors here at that time, they were sold around 5 burger shekels then here but the equivalent of a dollar by those vendors.
I always found it funny they even had walkie talkies to tell each other when a carabinero was nearby so they can pack up everything and move away.
