CA fag here. Earthquakes are fun.
>>536423583hey neighbor. still waiting for the big one too!
>>536423390>when's the Big One?Dropped a big one this morning, will drop another big one tomorrow morning.
>>536425200checked
>>536423390I've been told repeatedly by retards on here that nothing will ever happen again.
>>536426389Things that will never happen (or again)>global debt market implosion>large magnitude CSZ or San Andreas Fault earthquake, because would obliterate Mountain View / Silicon Valley the source of all California wealthEverything's fine the current progression of western civilization will continue uninterrupted/unobstructed without upset
>>536423827Every fish and mammal in the entire Pacific basin would have Aids by the end of the month.
>>536428093I don't think it will break Russia into the sea
>>536423827learning how tsunami's work the asain continent and Australia gonna get fucked in that movie. Though a disaster like that gonna practically fucked most the US since that like Yellowstone erupting bad
June 13th. Say goodbye to LA. 7.8 magnitude…
>>536423390/sci/ thread
>>536423390not soon enough
since it's a strike-slip fault estimates are it can only generate an 8.2 to 8.8 maximum quake so not as big as the 9 that got Japan ... most likely such a quack would occur down near the Saltan Sea so it would feel like 6 by the time it got to SoCal
>>536423390> So when's the Big One?Maybe soon. Lot's of activity recently
>>536430511Heard of the Hayward Fault? Calaveras Fault? Elsinore Fault Zone? Know what a seismic hazards map is, how to interpret one(You) have zero concept or idea what you're posting about. None
>>536423827That pic is from the 1994 Northridge earthquake. Absolutely devastating
>>536423583I was in the big one as a kid in 1980, in San Francisco, the 1989 In Santa Cruz, The Napa quake of 2014. I have been in three 6.0-7.0 quakes in my lifetime so far and last year we had several 4.5 and one 5.0 that hit close by.there is nothing fun about quakes.my head was bouncing off the wall of my headboard during the 2014 quake.
>>5364233902046
>>536432567California faggots deserve to die slowly buried in rubble
>>536429795L.A. is maybe capable of a 7.2 at the most. the San Andreas doesn't cut through there. it cuts north of it all the way up to San FranciscoSan Francisco is capable of 8.0 or higher. Possibly a 9. Seattle is the one overdue. Seattle is going to be a 9.2 when it comes and it will be 50 miles from Seattle and that whole sound will flood the city.the last one happened 350-500 years prior and they average every 300 years. it's way fucking overdue.and people in San Francisco and LA will feel it. Might even cause some damage 800 miles south. that's how massive their seductive zone will reach out.
>>536432661well I'm not a faggot and I sont deserve to die.You sound like a teenager and probably violating TOS of 4chan for just posting here.be careful what you wish on others because it can happen to you.
>>536430511Salton Sea fag here. There's almost no activity in the fault or the volcanoes. When have a lot of roads and foundations getting FUCKED by shifting around, but there's almost never earthquakes.
>>536432691>M9>Seattle is the one overdueWe (including Oregon) in the Pacific northwest are overdue for a major CSZ event. Which might possibly also involve plate movement of such magnitude to activate the San Andreas
>>536432742You're in a flood zone. the lake was created by an accidental flash flood in the early 1900s. so I can tell you if there is a massive quake north of you it could damage flood gates or dams and a wall of water would come your way with in a few hours/days.a land tsunami of sort
>>536423583>CA fag here. Earthquakes are fun.I rode out Northridge and several smaller ones. I kind of miss them after moving to the deep sloth>>536425200based faggot? with a healthy digestive system>>536429795>LA>7.8I doubt it. The big SA is too well lubricated in that region and all the secondary/tertiary faulting doesn't store enough energy. If you want big quakes you gotta go to SF or Alaska>>536432567>there is nothing fun about quakesMove out of state you will start to miss them. Unless you are a gigantic weeping pussy.
>>536423390Yellowstone supervolcano eruption and pole flipping are past due, so is this big one.Would be funny if all 3 happened at once
>>536432820Anything is possible. it might not happen on the same day but it could trigger a year or two later. it's basically a thurst fault where you live. we have a slip fault or slide fault. anything is possible. I think Native Americans up there have a verbal history of a massive quake that slammed Washington just a few decades before the first Europeans popped up (Which were Russians I believe)Russians don't bother with writing shit like that down it seems. Anglos do. they exagerate shit to so you never know what is hype or what is fact. but the natives hyped it up and they themselves are kind of passive on making a big deal out of shit. kind of passive. so it must have been a really horrible event.
>>536432850No shit. And if the ocean raises like 6 feet this whole valley up to Palm Springs is Atlantis 2: Coachella boogaloo You think I don't know the history of this place?
>>536423390ive been in california for the last 7 or 8 months and havent felt any eathquakes
>>536423390They are wishing for the big one to get more federal aid for all the money they spent on illegals. California is in real trouble because they gave medical to illegals, if they didnt give them medical then all the hospitals would have shut down. Hospitals can't kick someone out in California if they don't have health insurance, and illegals use the emergency room as a daycare center.
>>536433000Both are easily debunkable. But you won't bother to learn the truth
>>536432865literally nothing fun if a 800 pound book case full of books came down on your head. or the ceiling pinning youI dont live in a house, I live in a multi level condo with a car port and car ports are notorious for sinking and collapsing in bringing down floors above them.Northridge is a classic example
>>536433017the average decent size quake is maybe 10 years. anything 4.0 or larger is 10-15 years. 5.0 is maybe every 30 years.6.0 is like 40-50 years7.0 is like every 80 years or so.something like thatdepends on where you live. San Francisco has 7 faults. 1 major. one medium size (Haward) and 5 small all of them capable of producing 6.5 or higher. if you live in LA you're less likely to feel a large one but they have swarms of 3-4 size with an occasional 6-7.give it timebut it's a surreal experience for first timers. it feels like you're on a boat and a big wave comes along and it shakes. sometimes up and down first side to side. the other is like something ran into your house and vibrates violently
>>536433333witnessed
>>536433114>if a 800 pound book case full of books came down on your headThat's on you for leaving an 800 pound case of books in a metastable position right above where your head is when you sleep. I just have 40ish pound fileboxes of books stacked on shelves and they aren't where I sleep.>NorthridgeWas fucking rad. It woke me up at ass-o-clock in the AM, there was loud vertical shaking then a longer period of gentler side to side shaking. My bed slid back and forth on its casters. Lasted maybe a half minute or a bit longer. Was in Venice at the time and I don't know how the local pedology/geology affected things. I think Marina Del Rey got it worse because of local pedology
>>5364233902 more weeks
>>536433010>basicallyCascadia Subduction Zone is much more, and affects, interacts with a broad area of tectonics in the region. Large magnitude event has the potential to set off other fault zones and volcanic activity from the upper half of California northward. Along with tsunami(s).Oregon has its own sets of inshore landward seismic hazard zones and faults particularly near the Columbia River Gorge and down the Willamette Valley regions.
>>536432742There were some larger magnitude quakes several years ago in the China Lake areahttps://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2019_Ridgecrest_earthquakes
>>536423390It'll happen once the U.S. economy completely bottoms out in free fall this winter after the oil shock kicks in and once the fertilizer finally runs out to ensure there is absolutely 0 chance of it ever being rebuilt again, essentially putting the final nail in the coffin of U.S. economic hegemony.Screencap this it will happen this winter, Israel believes they don't need their American golem anymore and will shoot the U.S. while they're down and use filthy kike technology to trigger it.
>>536423390Feels like it's been a while since we had a notable quake, anywhere really. Calm before the storm maybe
>>536426389It was predicted by scientists many years ago that California would suffer another huge earthquake, such as the one that destroyed San Francisco in the early 1900's but even worse. This is called "the big one" and it's more of a theory than an established fact. But ALL of California's building codes are in preparation of "the big one">no subways allowed, no basements for houses>most buildings are kept to 1 story, unless you do some expensive bribery, then you might get 2. This leads to a "sprawling city" rather than a vertical city like New YorkThe Big One is theorized to be at least an 11.0, minimum.
>>536423390apparently whenever cascade subduction zone gets some relief it'll cause a ripple effect that sets off the san andreas fault too. southern california is going to slowly migrate upwards towards alaska anyways, many, many millennia after out lifetime.
