Didn't get any long lasting mental damage from it, however I did have several weed induced bouts of psychosis, one of which had me thinking I was dying and needed to go to the hospital, another which I inadvertently injured my back during which caused another hospital visit, again where I was basically humiliated and mocked by the entire hospital staff which half out of reality the entire time. These psychosis bouts lasted for nearly2 weeks each and I was off weed for them as well which is what scared me. Newbies usually just buy carts or edibles. I don't know many people that started with flower unless they smoked prior to legalization.
Carts are probably safest for newbies because you can micro dose them. Edibles are good for the same reason but some people lack the enzymes for edibles.
If you have zero tolerance and are insistent on using flower you will need a dry herb vape in order to do smaller doses.
