What does /pol/ think of work unions?
>>536435608I think they're good but for some things like writing they do more harm than good.Like if the baseline idea is borderline freelancing already it's a net negative because it discourages people to leave rather than obstruct.A strike is worse for you and better for your employer than straight up exiting.
some sectors it makes sense others not so much used to work as a casual contractor and would only make half as much as the fulltime union guys, they also would dump their work on me just because they could so i'm not the biggest fan
>>536435608good if you know people or related to someone
>>536435608Can be great or shit, entirely comes down to how many Jews are in it.
>>536435608Bring the guilds back
If you remove jews and boomers from leadership positions than unions can be a benefit
Unions are a fucking scam. I only made $650 last week. I can barely survive on thatStay out of unions, everyone should go to college
>>536435608When I relied on public transport to get to work there was a time when the transit union went on strike. The union used my ability to get to work as leverage against the provincial government to take more of my tax dollars. It was lose/lose for me. When those faggots ask "Why are you against public transit?". That's a foundational one for me. I worked for UFAW/CAW at a fish plant and I was in charge of the ass end of a hake plant. As the season wound down I had guys showing up in my area and telling me what they were going to do because they had seniority. My ass was on the line but those dorks got to call their own shots. Luckily for me they wanted to do the must useless and lazy jobs so they pretty much did not interfere with what I had to do. Still, seniority had nothing to do with ability.
>>536435608only way to fight the boss/ceo jew
>>536435608They can be both good and bad, for example the factory I work has a union, they take around 1% of our pay, and spend it on God knows what. While the mine nearby has a union which payed for an expensive surgery for one of their employees.
>>536437894Nope. You just get a new set of assholes over you. Go against a union and see what happens.
>>536437781> was in charge of the ass end of a hake plant. As the season wound down I had guys showing up in my area and telling me what they were going to do because they had seniority. My ass was on the line but those dorks got to call their own shotsWhat does this mean? I understood the first half about a public transit strike fucking you over.
>housing bill>minimum wageUh, what?
>>536435608they were co-opted by organized crime almost as soon as they were formed and unions are now part of the entrenched power structure
>>536438280Sorry for the delay. I was eating dinner. The end of the factory was where the freezers were. If we backed up then the whole factory would back up. I needed the blocks to be at least negative 20. There were five freezers and one was being filled and one emptied. The other three were needed to freeze the product. If somebody made a mistake and opened a freezer early then it could fuck the whole operation up if an extra 30 minutes was needed to get the blocks to the correct temperature. Ieas the "lead" for the area and handled the paperwork and called the shots for the five guys in my area. We did well all season until some guys went away for various reasons (school etc.). I then started getting other guys from other shifts and other areas of the factory. Before even introducing themselves they just tell me that they had seniority and did not have to listen to me and said that they were going to do whatever to they wanted to without being asked. The easiest was filling the freezer so they would often take that job and I was grateful that they did. Anywhere else, if they fucked up it might have caused a serious problem that I would have shouldered the blame for.
Unions are like NGOs. They exist to enrich the management class of the organization and only pretend to give a shit about the people they're supposed to be serving.
>>536435608The unions are right on this point. It's important to keep unions, government, and employers separate. Otherwise, you'll end up with the european model, where all three work together to rip off workers. Strong, worker-controlled unions are a good thing and the only way to ensure that workers receive their fair share.
>>536439138Did they even have a choice? The employers had built up private armies, and the mafia was the only group with enough soldiers to stand up to them.
>>536435608The main problem with unions is they've become too political. They're less about the workers, and more about shilling their beliefs within two party politics
>>536439195Ahh, I understand. That's fucked up
In some sectors, unions have driven wages up to such an extent that entire industries become uncompetitive as other costs rise. It's an unsustainable strategy.
>>536435608Well it's not a coincidence that countries with strong labour movements including unions have better working conditions than those that don't have such a history. But it is also something that can't be taken for granted and you have to keep working and fighting for it. Plenty of companies would have it be the way of robber barons return if they could.
>>536435608they don't work
>>536435608I stopped supporting them when they started putting immigrant members over non-member American workersThe days they helped American workers as a whole are long gone
>>536440735Evidence to the contrary, thought I think they're too kind today while corpos, especially bigger ones, have less problems with cruel strongarming tactics.
>>536440768>mmigrant members over non-member American workers>A union that represents and supports its members>WOOOOOOW WHY DO YOU SUPPORT THAT GUY WHO IS A MEMBER AND NOT ME!?Well that's a big brainlet take to start the day with
What if they made minimum wage $800 an hour!!!! Holy based. We should do that. Imagine the cuisine!!!
>>536435608Depends on the union. When I worked at a couple of grocery stores, those represented by the UFCW were much better places to work than the non-union stores. On the other hand, there's a union in my town that runs what's essentially a protection racket. If any construction project hires workers that aren't part of their union, even if they're in another union, the union hires homeless bums to line both sides of the sidewalks near the construction site and harasses everyone walking by. The idea is to annoy the public so much that they demand all construction projects go to that union. It's also worth noting that members of the union don't do the "protesting" themselves, they pay minimum wage to the stinkiest winos they can find.
>>536440823>expects others to support his organization when it doesn't benefit them and calls them brainlets if they don'tsmall hat confirmed
>>536440876>when it doesn't benefit themWell yeah cause you're not a member lol. Shit dude did you drink freezer fluid or are you paid to post this drivel?
>>536437604>Stay out of unions, everyone should go to college
>>536437604how many hours did you work
>>536437604>175k in 6 months>go to collegeYou gotta be joking. College tards have to suck half a million dicks for a decade to make that salary and keep it.
If unions were worth a fuck, we'd have 4 day work weeks by nowunion shills are always talking about how great they are, but can only list shit from 80 years ago when you ask them why
