Fun facts I didn't know
>1. Russia only since 2001 has had the Soviet anthem as its anthem, before that, since 1990, their anthem had been the "Patriotic Song" which had no lyrics. The lyrics for Russia's current anthem are also new, being the rewritten lyrics of the Soviet anthem
>2. Our military parade was actually first, the Russian military parade is only a copycat. Upon becoming President, Lech KaczyƄski set out to revive the tradition of military parades on Armed Forces Day (August 15th) in Poland, commemorating the victory at the Battle of Warsaw in August 1920 during the Polish-Soviet war. The first military parade in free Poland, with tanks and aircraft, was held in 2007.
Meanwhile... military parades in Russia with tanks and aircraft only began in 2008. Almost as if Russia got butthurt at our parade, and envious, and was a copycat
Also, in the Soviet Union, the military parades were held on October Revolution Day. The "Victory Day Parade" was only held 3 times during the USSR, so there isn't really any tradition to be found, it's just a shoddy replacement from the October Revolution Day parade.
In 1991 the Soviet Union held its last proper military parade. Then for the next 2 years they weren't held due to budgetary and political issues. Then between 1994 and 2007 they started doing regular Victory Day parades but only with marching troops, without aany equipment.

Also Russia's national holidays are similarly fake & gay. The two major ones commemorate the
>declaration of sovereignty of the RSFSR (June 12, 1990)
>independence from Poland (November 4th; another shoddy replacement of Soviet tradition - the October Revolution Day on November 7)

They still have the Fingerbox Festival in late summer to celebrate pre-soviet traditional woodworking. More popular in Belarus though.

i thought the fingerbox industry shut down in russia after all the major producers left the country in 2022?
