Louisiana and Alabama may have some nice spots. Mississippi is kind of legendary for being awful and wanting to escape it. Florida is so disaster-prone but it is on the table for places I could find a job. I would be paranoid to keep my book collection in hurricane-land, at least without blast-resistant walls and windows. Texas is vast and is something like a mixture of all the other zones around it. Texas leads the USA in being average.
