Let's be honest. Do polls even really matter or change minds?

> Trump supporters are cemented and very unlikely to change their minds.
> Most Americans have already decided who they're voting for.
> "Undecided voters" are just bullshitting.

It's to
a) give politicians an excuse to do what they wanted to do anyway (by constructing a poll that seems to show support for it)
b) make you believe that that's what OTHER people believe ("wow there's a lot of support for x, I guess that's just how things are now / I don't want to be ostracized for opposing it")

It also is an important part of the narrative crafting side of rigged elections.
Votes arent tallied - they merely reflect the crafted narrative deployed ahead of the election.
That way people say "well I dont like it but I believe it cause the tv and stuff showed me some corroborating evidences ... we just gotta vote harder next time"

Thats also why every otherwise perfect candidate "fucks up" to some extent ahead of elections.
Its alllll about plausible deniability.

Polls convince people that they are going with the flow, which a lot of people value especially as they get older and want less conflict in their lives.
But in the modern day, there's a lot of incentive to tailor your broadcast to generate more revenue instead of plainly speaking the truth so a lot of people don't trust the news anymore and in America especially people are starting to doubt the election process in ways they frankly didn't before.
