I live in the middle of the hellhole that is Phoenix, so no.
>>
>>536512199
You can grow prickly pear cactus
>>
>>536512199
My cousin was trying to convince me to move to Arizona. He really is selfish, asking me to go suffer there with him. My state sucks but at least it's not the desert hell-hole.
>>536511869
No
>>
>>536512243
I do!

The problem I have with prickly pears, is my cactus patch is too big to get the majority of the pears.
>>
>>536511869
I live in an apartment.
>>
Well water? It rains enough I don't even water my garden.
>>
>>536511869
My boomer dad came over and sprayed fucking BUG SPRAY on my herb garden because he saw ladybugs and ants. I'm waiting for him to die so I can start a new garden. He also cut down two of my gum tree without permission because "roots bad for plumbing" yet he brings non flush wet wipes to my house to wipe his rashy anus. It's really all so tiring.

He also scalps his lawn and gets mad that it grows patchy. My lawn is beautiful and yet he never takes my advice to let it grow over winter. And the saddest thing of all he refuses to eat anything I cook, I could try to make his favourite meals with home ingredients and he'll find any excuse not to eat, then sneak off to Mcdonalds.

I don't need to understand boomer logic to know that the world will be so much better when they're all fucking dead. Their contempt for nature is shocking. And mum isn't much better, the only thing she wants to grow is cannabis.
>>
>>536511869
Yes, i also lease some field to some farmer that got 10 heads of cattle grazing it during the summer. If shtf i'm killing one of them and filling my freezer.
>>
>>536511869
>You ARE growing and raising your own food
I just started this year with 2 DIY raised beds, but I'm growing Tomatoes, Eggplant, Bell Peppers, Green Onions, Carrots, Spinach, Basil, Rosemary, and Thyme.

>untreated fresh well water
Of course... Imagine having to pay the city jews for water

>not using any pesticides or herbicides
That kinda goes along with having well water unless you like drinking pesticides
>>
>>536512523
>fucking BUG SPRAY on my herb garden because he saw ladybugs and ants
Wtf those are the based bugs you want. I would be livid
>>
>>536511869
>heirloom stock
soon, still waiting on these Russian fishermen to get back to me.
>>
>>536511869
Yes.
How many cattle and sheep do you have?
>>
>>536512199
So glad I left that shit ass city 15 years ago. Life in maine is so much whiter.
>>
>>536512772
Huh?
Sheep pull the grass out by the roots and starve the cattle to death, them themselves.
I have Boer goats who eat leafy foliage only. It keeps the leafy foliage trimmed up about 6 foot and provides more clearing for grass to grow.
Sheep kill range simple as.
>>
>>536511869
Apartment so no.
But I don't want a garden anyway.
Serious bug phobia.
>>
Once you've eaten Muscovy eggs, you can never go back to any other egg.
Also, the Dwarf Nigerian is part of a herd that provides the sweetest and healthiest milk on the planet.
It's so good my wife and daughters sell it as "pet supplement not for human consumption" for $60 a gallon to the avocado toast people.
>>
There is no excuse to not raise your own food in and near Phoenix.
>>
>>536511869
Yep. And rabbits and chickens too. Just had some crockpot rabbit and vegetable stew last night, tasty and easy to make.

What’s with all the ticks and fleas this year…
>>
>>536513607
I don't know but a Florida anon suggested we start wearing clothes that cover most of our bodies when we're out gardening. So now I'm gardening in jeans and full sleeves.
>>
>>536511869

Muh circle the wagons
>>
I've got a bunch of blueberry bushes and a small vegetable garden. Huge herb garden though, keep planting them at the end of the season around the property too and some are starting to come back each year. It's cool having useful plants around instead of weeds.
>>
>>536511869
>heirloom stock
i use hybrids for tomatoes and peppers, and other things. hybrid vigor is real. hybrids are not gmo's either. heirlooms are only necessary if you save your own seeds
>>
I need a bigger garden space.
Rasperries are producing now, I recommend everyone plant them because there's no maintenance and the dollar value is so high ($7/lb).

>plant heirloom stock and water them with well water
>the giant mega-corp farm across the road has chemicals runoff into your water
>their patented strain of tomatoes cross-pollinates with yours
>they sue you for using their product
>shut down your farm and take every penny you own

Yes this does happen. I know a guy going through it right now.
>>
>>536511869
I spent a mean billy getting mars dirt to shit in to grow potatoes but it's not going well
>>
>not just growing weed
Say what you want but even if you live in a shitty little apartment you can easily grow a couple hundred dollars or euros worth each month.
>>
>>536514255
I know a drug dealer that's inheriting the second tier fab shop in a whole town that was abused his entire childhood. Things should go well
>>
>>536511869
nobody is growing and raising their own food
it's only supplemental unless you're Amish and not under jewish control
>>
>>536514189
25 kg 10 euros, cow, horse and chicken shit pellets,it goes 500 g per 1m2 if the soil is extra poor...also put hay over to hold moisture
>>
>>536511869
I’m growing stuff in a greenhouse in the back garden. Tomatoes and chilis and stuff. Can I be in your gang?
>>
>>536511869
You’ll be making several trips to the grocery store before your first “harvest”.
>>
>>536514106
It’s $7 delivered. That covers storage, shipping, profits, packaging. They’re like $7 a bushel when first picked.
>>
>>536511869
I planted some jalapenos and 4 different varieties of heirloom tomatoes this year. And my chickens are still doing fine even though a hawk flys overhead all day screaming at them like a freak.
>>
>>536515075
Red shouldered hawks are just screaming about the state of society
>>
>>536511869
Tomatoes, potatoes, cucumbers, onions, garlic and some spices i like
Every year
I used to farm pigs so i had a lot of pumpkin, mellon and watermelon
This doesnt include fruit, because all the fruit, mainly plum and grape are for brewing brandy, i dont like fruit too much, i eat an apple every now and then because its necessary for life
Rest i buy, sometimes trade, mostly trade tomatoes for something because i have good seeds and replenish them
Best profit i can make is booze and dried mushrooms, for some reason people here are franticly retarded and excited when mushroom season comes, they pay too much for them
>>
>>536515654
Im taking the nut butter pill
>>
>>536515782
Takes 5 to 10 years for any nut tree to give nuts, expensive as shit saplings too, good investment though
A cousin of mine does it with hazelnuts, turks and italians used to be the best customers, earned a shitton of money selling it
I built a crusher for him and got paid not just with money but every year he sends me tons of shells, which i press into wood briquettes for heat, had no idea the nearby towns central heating plant buys shit like that, went from oil byproduct to wood chips and cant get enough, they especially seek after branches from trimmed fruit trees and any nut shells they can find

Yes biomass is actually very scarce in concrete jungles

This is why in parts of Africa in certain rituals they kill their parents. I have cut contact with my parents as they are parasitic demons. Most parents develop severe mental imbalances through having children. They purposefully control you through triggers and forcing emotional responses in you since you were a child. What your father is doing to you is real and provable abuse and a form of torture. Look into it. Your father is most likely riddled with pin worms causing all kinds of mental illness. Don't ever forget what boomers did to us with the great financial crisis, mental health crisis, housing crisis, immigration crisis. These people are fucking demons.
>>
>>536516458
Boomers are just kids themselves

>>

I grow cucumbers
>>
>>536511869
Mmmm yesss, wrap your organic fruit tree with a giant plastic label that will leach microplastics directly into the soil it's drinking from.
>>

>Riddled with pinworms
Lmfao this is probably more true than I like to admit. He gives his dog a worming pill about once a week but doesn't take one himself.

>>536512690
I'm just not going to garden around him it's pointless. His way of feeling in control of me is to target my plants. His ideal backyard is concrete and a fence low enough for neighbours to see him piss. Like a dog, always does it outside. It drives me nuts. And even asking questions to understand the logic is considered "harassment" he'll huff and sook just because I ask him why he puts dirty glasses back in the cupboard. It's not a new problem he's been consistent like this for more than 30 years.
>>
It's just a larp on a small scale.
Grow stuff that you harvest once a year that you might get a few weeks of eatable food out of before the rest rots.
What about the other 50 weeks of the year?
>>
>>536521021
Canning
It's not insubstantial. Each year I grow more summer and winter squash than I want to eat. Never have to buy herbs or tea. And my garden space is tiny, the size of a small apartment. It's one of the only hobbies that is profitable.
>>
>>536513793
Yeah my wife was gardening in booty shorts and something got ahold of her crotch, chiggers I think.

>nobody is growing and raising their own food
this is my ultimate goal and it is WAY harder than you think. i grow
>20x40 patch ofpotatoes
>20x40 patch of pinto beans
>10x20 patch of sweet potatoes
>10x20 patch of black eyed peas
>10x20 patch of onions
>20' row of garlic
>36 tomato plants
along with all the other seasonal things and that only lasts just me 10 months.
>>
The trick is to start small and expand over the years. It takes about 10 years to get a really productive garden and work out what does well for your microclimate and soil conditions. Takes time to fix and build the soil.
>>
>>536527247
always great to start with berry bushes. small investment one spring and you get plenty of fruit.
