The biggest problem in a society is the accumulation of wealth and status. In the beginning it’s great because most everyone is at the same starting point and there’s lots of room to maneuver and establish yourself. As time goes on the good opportunities become fewer. You’re stuck as a serf as people who have worked to get where they are refuse to step down until they die. This forces people to either push norms (porn, middleman scams) or break laws (drugs, theft) to get ahead. Then begins the downward spiral.
