YKJ-1000 is a low-cost hypersonic glide missile unveiled in Nov 2025 by Beijing-based private firm Lingkong Tianxing (Space Transportation). It uses a booster + glide vehicle with extra engines, civilian-grade materials like foamed concrete heat shielding, automotive chips, and commercial supply chains.

https://www.scmp.com/news/china/science/article/3334933/chinas-dirt-cheap-hypersonic-missiles-could-upend-global-defence-markets-state-media

Key specs:

Speed: Mach 7
Range: 1,300 km
Powered flight: up to 6 minutes
Containerized launcher (shipping-container like, mobile, land/sea deployable)
Autonomous targeting/maneuvering; mass-produced after tests

https://www.chinadaily.com.cn/a/202511/29/WS692a3a81a310d6866eb2c053.html

Unit cost claimed 700,000 yuan ($99k), 1/10th-1/20th traditional systems.

Why it could end the era of exposed US bases & carriers

This democratizes hypersonics: cheap, producible in volume by private firms using dual-use tech. Traditional US interceptors (SM-6 $4M+, THAAD $15M) become economically unsustainable against salvos - attackers can saturate defenses at low cost (classic cost-exchange asymmetry flipped).

Container launchers hide easily among civilian traffic, enabling rapid, dispersed deployment by any buyer (states or proxies). US forward bases in Pacific, carriers in littoral waters, and allied assets become vulnerable to cheap, fast, maneuvering threats within 800+ miles - hard to defend at scale.

It signals a shift to affordable mass hypersonics, eroding expensive power projection advantages and favoring dispersed, cheaper forces.

Give few hundred of these toys to Iran/Houthis and USrael is cooked xD

Cheap smart mass is the future of warfare and smth that can allow small countries to fuck up empires xD

China democratized mass drone warfare, now its time for hypersonics

Bold strategy, chang.
Advertising potential without having to actually use them. It's a variant of the Cold War™ idea.
Is this how the burger hegemony gets humbled?

Company claims and Chinese media highlight high scalability using civilian assembly lines, automotive-grade parts, and commercial supply chains. One report notes production can reach up to 10,000 units/month on assembly lines, illustrating the designs potential for volume output.

120k hypersonic missiles a year with $99k price tag. Crazy shit xD
>>
>>536539734
For comparison Russia produces 20-40 hypersonic missiles a month (Zircon/Kinzhal/Oreshnik). Kinzhal costs $5M, Zircon - $6M and Oreshnik $30M xD
>>
In the near future, if it can be seen, it can be destroyed.

Modern AA/AD systems struggle even against LSS such as small drones. They are in 100% defenceless vs swarms of 7 Mach mandvouring glides. Launch few such dirty cheap missiles at aircraft carrier and its game over. SM-6 had only 25% success rate vs Iranian ballistics xD

Iran was able to hit US bases all over Gulf with pinpoint precison only because Iranian missiles/drones were integrated with BeiDou 3.

No, that would be by the entirety of NATO getting routed from Afgahanistan by sandal-wearing goatfuckers whom NATO could not smoke out in 20 years. Or more recently a country with no navy left blockading the most important maritime trade route from the world's strongest navy.

Funny to see hyperweapon larpers switch from russia to china after the complete failure of the war in ukraine.

Such projects show that the Chinese have brains. Cheap smart mass wins wars. I noticed that the Chinese _always_ pay special attention to cost2effect and scalability. They prepare for real next-gen war with millions of drones, missiles etc, meanwhile the West is incapable to scale up weapon production this way, due to Chinese caps on rare earth, deindustrialisation, lack of industrial infrastructure/ecosystems, lack of enough of skilled workforce/engineers etc. I wouldnt underestimate China. Looks like they drew proper conclusions from the era of humiliation.

Muttland is too bankrupt and too chicken of FPV carnage to do a proper land operation in Iran, so how does it plan to get on China? This "undisclosed" UFO thingy would need to help in invasion, i guess xD
>>
>>536541858
What really fucks over the US isn’t even the fact that it can’t keep up with China in the new meta, it’s the fact that even if it could do so the new meta simply doesn’t dovetail effectively with global force projection. The logistics and infrastructure nodes a military like the US needs to project force globally are simply too vulnerable to modern weapons. The US could be out producing China by a factor of 10 and it still wouldn’t be able to maintain its power projection in a modern full scale conflict.
>>
>>536542459
You understand that such serious escalation is a double-edged sword and it is not really a problem to sink most of your 300 old/rusted warships? Chinese shipyards have x420 bigger output than American shipyards which means that you couldnt replenish your losses fast enough and the Chinese could. xD
>>
>>536542955
Ships are crucial for transport of goods. If the US of A tries to be a rogue pirate state, even these civilian ships would be eventually escorted by navy or armed for self defence. Besides the US of A barely manages to block Iranian ports, plenty Iranian ships go through, Mutts manage to catch only some percent but not all. So how the US Navy plans to control entire global trade? Thats impossible.

>In very short order all global shipping would grind to a halt and become impossible to indemnify.
This will just begin the era of mutipolar world.

Koreans placed some orders on Chinese goods, americans attack.
=> Koreans will now have to pick between sucking america's cock, or attacking American pirates to protect their goods.

Apply the same to Japan, Vietnam, Thailand, etc.
Now you have true expansion of Chinese spere of unfluence in the multipolar world.

Hormuz is a narrow chokepoint. Iran threatens a concentrated flow with cheap asymmetric tools. Chinas imports rely on Malacca Strait, but global trade to US/EU/others uses vast, dispersed Pacific/Indian Ocean routes with many alternatives, wide open seas and dozens of major ports. No single bottleneck. The US Navy cant terrorize it all the way Iran controls Hormuz. Sinking a few ships raises insurance/risk but doesnt halt everything: rerouting is feasible, navies escort, attribution/escalation risks high. China itself depends more on secure seas for survival (energy/food imports). China would use its vast and super-fast replenishable fleet of transport ships in such situation so insurance risk could be cancelled with using state guarantees.

The refusal of the american MIC to make something efficient is a great argument for direct state involvement in defence industry at this point. F-35 could be a far bit cheaper if it wasn't having to dole itself out to many states just to get accepted, reliance on old electronic tech causes the US to make low yield high cost batches on stuff that wasn't bank-breaking 20 years back.
This entire attitude has effectively infected the entire west now.

US literally has zero defense against hypersonics

>US literally has zero defense against hypersonics
no one does

the US simply has no hypersonics to threaten Russia/China/Iran into different defense postures

they know were locked into an endless loop of
>"desert storm:air war!"
tactics over and over and over and over

Desert storm is literally the only war the US ever won EVER and the "lessons learned" from it were a calamity the likes of which have never been seen for our defense and strategic disposition
