Second construction job. I was a labourer helping a crew of carpenters. It sucked because I didn't really fit in (I don't watch sportsball) and the foreman often struggled to think of things for me to do. You would think that's a good thing, not having to do any work. But when I'm constantly telling him "I'm done, what do you want me to do now" and he's standing there trying to think, I could see he was getting a bit resentful of me being there. I started to dread talking to him. I eventually told my boss I quit and he got mad and said he was very disappointed and that I'd let him down and I just shrugged it off. I didn't bother explaining that I was basically doing nothing and that I was a burden on the foreman.In retrospect it wasn't that bad, but I certainly understand how people with jobs can get really frustrated or upset when a minor thing persists so long that it makes you dread coming to work.
I've worked all kinds of jobs, security guard, warehouse, retail, data entry, help desk, cook, cashier at various places, pizza driver and probably more I'm forgetting. By far the worst job I had was being a cook at Chili's. I worked 7 days a week and had to come in the morning and at night while clocked out in the middle of the day so it felt like I was working 80 hours a week or more even though technically I was only getting paid for 30 or something like that. I wasn't allowed to take time off for any reason, I had to prepare people's food while being sick and watching these cute 20 year old girls hand my plates to people making 100x more than I did via tips. Not to mention the rude ass Mexicans who would blast their obnoxious mariachi music at max volume which give me a horrible headache and maybe partial deafness.Fyi the food is garbage besides the steak. It's all frozen garbage we would mostly just reheat. You can get probably literally the same quality food at the frozen section of a grocery store. Even if there was a thunderstorm in an area, and the customers TV cable wasn't working either, we still had to go through a standard troubleshooting process. I'd have to have the customer tell me the lights on their modem and router, unplug them, plug them back in, tell me the lights, then go on to next steps, sometimes going as far as trying to convince boomers how to open command prompt and ping various IP address and tell me the response times. If the ISP hadn't told us there was an official outage, we had to go through all these pointless steps. The job was also in an office where instead of cubicles, we all just sat at computer workstations on a giant long desk, about 30-40 sweaty nerdy dudes crammed into one room. Sound was very annoying.
