I live in lima half the year. Not in those hillside shacks, but near enough to stuff like that. If you have a few bucks, Peru is very cozy. The usa aint worth the premium on our freedombucks. Going back in a couple of months. Gonna eat mote and ceviche and pollo a la brasa and drink passionfruit juice and impress the locals by buying everyone a round of ice at the restaurant.

>>536573629Some can. Electricity is really expensive, so people mostly dont have ice and will just buy a small bag for occasions where they need it. I got a little ice maker where I stay and pay for the power to run it and everyone seems to enjoy that. Not having tons if ice on demand (and, to a lesser extent, not having AC) are the only things I kind of miss when Im there. The whole no niggers as far as the eye can see thing is also amazing and makes up for a lot.

The countertop model is not perfect, but it makes enough ice for drinks. Still need some ice trays for anything very big.

That thing is a kingly appliance and repair parts are not easy to find nor to install. Had an issue with the dispenser panel a fee months ago that resolved itself. That will come back and js presumably fixable, at least.
