Turned out the keys are a liberal boomer stronghold and they did care about masks. I was expecting Caribbean style white beaches but they are non existent there. Everything is expensive. I live in Miami but I travel down this way all the time, I just drove down to Key West for work last week.The top part of your picture is the Everglades which is just swamp. Shit ton of gators and birds but that's it. The only real cities down and the end of the mainland are Homestead and Florida City. Both are pretty poor and high on crime. Lots of blacks and Mexicans. A lot of people who work in Miami live here since they can't afford the city.The majority of the cities that are on the keys are very small sleepy poorer towns. With little pockets of extreme wealth. Everyone moves at kind of a slower pace. Most people seem to work in some kind of tourism or hospitality too. The beaches are not that nice since the islands are made up of rough rocks, but the water is crystal clear and top notch for snorkeling. Also the fishing down there is amazing.Everything changes when you hit Key West though. It's a really unique place. I'd day the closest thing I can compare it to would be New Orleans. Very heavy drinking and party atmosphere, very offbeat and eccentric, gay-friendly, lots of history. Very big with bikers. Amazing seafood. Full of shithead fucked up tourists. Very expensive to live there too.What else do you want to know?

Real estate is extremely expensive since everyone wants to live there, and with it being an island, there's no more room for growth. Also I'm pretty sure they have some kind of restrictions on building, I don't think they have any structures more than 2 or 3 stories.

>>536570969I got married in marathon and return yearly. It's fun. It's expensive but keeps the riff raft away because of that. Key west is faggy though. Half of it is now owned by the Russian mob. Snorkeling/diving around key largo is world class. But surprisingly they don't have many good beaches. I love Florida and plan to retire there, but I wouldn't do so in the keys.
