bottom one seems the clear choice. you definitely dont want a folding knife for your main and only tool. the bottom one has a nice added little bump that could save your hand slipping up onto the blade, plus the base adds a useful pointed hammer like edge.
>>
>>536573458
Knife throwing is hard, you have to hold it just right, and release it just right.
>>
>>536574389
for throwing practice you can just make your own out of thicker sheet steel (2-4mm) using an angle grinder. but i guess there are cheap sets all over the internet these days.

>I was right on accident bc i confused the countries

Obviously you want the most durable with the tickest metal. So in a real life comprison an easy pick. Assuming roughly same steel-grade.
If the USA one breaks (and if it can, it will, over time) you are fucked because it doesn’t even have a metal handle, just the blade. You cannot even make a good makeshift handle without it being fragile and dangerous to you. The others are basically indestructible and probably last a century. Thicker metal means means can be sharpened more often. So yeah, thats my reasoning
>>
>>536575215
Do you fantasize about male ass alot, anon?
>>
>>536575262
i agree. and, though you shouldn't really do it unless absolutely necessary, stabbing something with slippery hands would be safer using the bottom knife. you're going to slide right up the center ones handle.

another thing you should void but have to do is bind the knife to a spear, which would also be easier with the bottom knife.
>>
>>536575392
Softer steel tends to deform, like the axe blade will. Odds are the knife blade is pretty hard, but too brittle or too thin, although it depends where the nick comes from. During metal on metal contact it happens quickly.

yeah thats what they're good for. you'll always be able to find petrol, diesel, avgas etc for it and it'll save your life if you get pinned down in the serious cold. but under easier conditions and when tired at the end of the day, i just got annoyed at the set up and mess. the little alcohol burner will heat your water, cook your noodles, eggs etc, and make not a bit of sot or other mess while requiring zero set up as such.

i used it at temps of -15 to -20c a few times and it just needed to be preheated a bit before the alcohol would start to evaporate. used some paper and card trash found nearby.

Mora is a good basic survival knife.

Folders suck is a bold statement though. Buy a benchmade adamis or a basedderco chief and you could straight up baton logs with it and it’ll keep an edge.

Knives are tools and you get what you pay for. Spend $200 on a good folder and you’ll get an amazing knife that will last forever and retain edge. Hell even a $70 knife will outclass 80% of the stuff beneath it.

I’ve got both fixed and folded knives. There is use cases for both, if I’m out in the woods for 2+ days my buck knife is the best tool. If I’m walking to the office and I’m trying not to get stabbed by a nigger my folder is better suited for the task

You really gotta ask yourself “how much time will I be doing hardcore outdoor boys tier survival work?” Most will say zero that’s why I reccomend folders, that being said if you live in rural Alaska and no one will bat an eye about you carrying a foot long kabar go for it.

As someone who is an outdoorsman, I would pick the USA one.

Why? It has a longer handle, so more leverage where needed, and a small notch so your hand doesn't slip unto the blade. This is useful where you're applying a lot of force, such as cutting through joints and cartilage if you're butchering an animal, or working wood into a stave.

A knife can also be used in place of other tools, suboptimally but still functionally. You want to have the option of as much leverage as possible. The smaller knives are more situational, and I'm sure they're well made, but overall less functional in a survival scenario.

Second one probably - micarta, the steel is good I have 2 other knifes with this steel both are above average. The only thing is I can't see how delicate the tip is. If it is too thin I will get the helle even if I don't like the handle material and shape. That being said if you add mora garberg I will grab this one because I've have one and it is great knife. But this are more bushcraft knifes than survival knifes. Generally speaking I would be more constable with something a little bit longer like Demco 3V freereign or if I got to go budget peltonen m07.

Glock knifes have steel softer than 5$ kitchen knife. Sure this is one way to prevent the average grunt breaking his knife but they are allergic to holding edge. Also the handle is hollow plastic, it does not break but if you split wood with it the cap at the bottom will pop up and you can lose it. The sawless one was 20-25 eur 10 years ago and was worth it. Now it is 35 and there are way way better knifes for 40 eur. Ironic this was my first "brand" knife, and now I just keep if for memory sake it is not a good knife.
>>
>>536573458
It all comes down to the quality of the steel. If it wasn't made in US, Germany, Japan, or Korea it probably has low quality steel.

The handle will not break but the cap will fall off. Be mindful if you plan to use it hard. Mine managed to roll over maybe 5-6 meter to the river where there were big stones and it fell between two stones. I managed to get it out with two twigs like sushi. If you get a knife you can super glue the cap. I've seen people fill the the handle with resin so it will not feel so cheap but for a soft shitty steel it just don't worth it to waste a resin.

You can get Terava Jääkäripuukko 140 (knife only) it is 60 eur now. They upped the price a little bit in the last 2 years. Don't buy their sheaths they cost as much as the knife. See the blade length and width, go to Temu and type the blade lenght + knife sheeth, at least 5-6 option will pop up. Avoid ones with caps, get a friction sheath it must cost around 5 eur. Congrats you paid less than twice the price of glock knife but got a knife that will outperform it in every single metric. If you compare how much better the edge holding is it gets really ugly, you can test it on cardboard boxes. Glock lose sharpness 4 times faster, and this is really shity considering the Terava is also build stronger.

I would choose the folder for normal EDC, but for survival innawoods, gotta go with one of the fixed blades.
The Enzo uses a tougher steel, and the micarta handle will be grippier in damp conditions. The Helle knife is more premium and uses a more corrosion resistant stainless steel blade.
The interesting part is that the Enzo appears to have a flat grind instead of the traditional scandi grind like the Helle. The flat grind would be better for tasks like food prep and cutting meat, but less tough for hacking on logs and doing bushcrafty stuff.
The Enzo but with a traditional scandi grind would be a very solid choice for a survival/bushcraft knife. The Helle is a heirloom quality hunt/fish/camp knife that you can pass down to your grandson one day.

I have Fallkniven for survival, great around camp and convex knives are always better and stronger. Split wood toggling no problem. OP, more like TOP to BOTTOM.
(you) said for survival and sustained use, so...
TOP: folder, no folder for critical use. Dropped. Full sturdy tang only.
MIDDLE: doesn't look too shabby
BOTTOM:looks a hair better than the middle
>
you never want a folder for critical use, ever.
I like the profiles of all three, and personally I can't stand serrations and its hard to not get serrations.
BOTTOM gets a nod for the serious metal
sticking out of the bottom of the handle.
What I need but can't get from the picture though...
balance spot
blade thickness
steel composition
handle durability and comfort
but if i had to pick on just this picture, I'd go with BOTTOM. I would drill out a hole in that handle bottom piece, then do one of my handle "wraps" for comfort and grip as well as other advantages it gives me.

>His testing only favors knives with a very soft heat treatment that are capable of sustaining imense abuse when in reality edge retention and blade geometry are more important in actual usage.
knife/handle geometry are critical.
hardness is a dance.
soft steel? you can sharpen it easily. edge retention is down but a few circular whirls on a stone and there you go.
hard meme steel? yeah the edge retention is great. but when it comes time to sharpen it? hoo boy.
also too hard and the knife is brittle.

Scandi grind blades will always be superior. I’ve got a number of blades, and usually just carry a a folding utility blade- but my scandi grind blades are always better at cutting, and dead simple to sharpen.

I honestly don’t understand why scandi grind isn’t more popular in America. It takes 10 seconds to sharpen/hone, and it glides through basically everything. Instead we have homosexual micro-bevels on every single knife.
>>
>>536591574

>>536595825
you listed the up-sides of the scandi grind. ease (cost?) of manufacture, easier made at home, easier to sharpen. The down side though. edge retention. Putting the "chisel" micro edge right at the cutting edge seriously both protects the blade and makes it way more durable. I made a lot of my own knives by stock removal method. I liked the scandi approach, but I ended up putting a tiny chisel on the blade edge to make it more durable. That said, sharpening is as important as everything else about any knife you don't intend to just throw away when it gets dull. But you could get somewhere in the USA if a few people started liking it the herd might follow.

This is the choice of the Green Berets. For daily carry I have a fully stainless steel folding knife that is almost the length of the Blackblade. It's lightweight enough but German quality.

No that is not me I am not allowed to purchase firearms and they are very loud and make you easy to spot but I have tried to engineer a sword like this before and failed because I do not have the proper equipment but when I get the proper machinery to make a sword like this I will do that and then go and assassinate bad guys in the dark like pic related.

You are comparing a folder to two fixed blades. I carry a multitool anyways.

That's why it has the black DLC coating. The integrated diamond sharpener makes it easy to sharpen the blade back to factory sharpness. However I also have dozens of very cheap Morakniv knives which are carbon steel and they are so cheap I don't even bother to sharpen them. They are the ones I would destroy first in a survival mode. They are also good for trading, carving, making tinder, gutting fish and animals, any use really. You can use them to cut firewood into smaller pieces and even split larger logs if you know what you're doing. They are sold in every store and tool shop here. Cheap as soap as they say.

It mostly has to do with tradition, but also harsh times and the need for actual survival skills, not some new world prepper larp.
In any real survival scenario you need to be constantly moving with a lightweight bug out bag

Staying put in one hideout where you have all your food and shit stored is a very bad idea. You must keep moving always, carry light weight, live off the land, use your knife to make a fire and fishing and hunting weapons. Making a survival bow and arrows is your number one priority. A powerful slingshot is good too. So long time ago the importance of carving and batooning was understood. And now also the importance of ferro rods. Proper knives must do all these things and last for years.

>Not bad by half.
TY. I get them to use hard and not feel too bad if I end up needing a new one eventually. Also for better than you brought kits with a little cammo grip tape over the red parts.
