The promise was explicitly stated by the bible to have passed to subsequent generations, first his son Isaac, then Isaac gave it to his own son Jacob who was renamed Israel. The next generation after Israel, the bible doesn't explicitly say who got the blessing from God, but the bible tells a story of brothers one of which was Judah. Judah and his other brothers are jealous of their brother Joseph because their father loved him so much that he gave him a special gift of a "coat of many colors". So the brothers conspire to sell Joseph into slavery and tell their father Joseph is dead. Joseph goes into slavery, then prison, then through God's favor he is elevated by the Pharoah out of prison and becomes the ruler of all Egypt. Judah's firstborn child is struck dead by God because he is wicked.Which brother got the Abrahamic blessing? Clearly not Judah.
