One thing I've never understood is why people insist that communities can't be built anymore.Every thread about the internet is the same. People talk about how everything was better ten years ago. Better forums. Better servers. Better communities. Better games. Better everything.Nobody ever seems to ask why.The answer is obvious. Back then people were willing to walk into an empty room.Today people treat communities like restaurants. If there aren't already fifty people inside, they assume the place isn't worth entering.Everyone wants to be a customer. Nobody wants to be a founder.Then they spend the next five years complaining that nothing new exists.It's a completely self-inflicted problem.An empty server is supposed to be empty. Every server that ever became popular started with one guy sitting in it wondering if anyone would show up.At some point the internet convinced people that they should only participate in things that have already succeeded.That's why every website is screenshots of another website. Every discussion is commentary on another discussion. Nobody wants to risk being first.Anyway, I got tired of hearing people complain and spent the last few weeks building a DarkRP server instead.It's called GoyimRP.Casino, drugs, simple rules, minimal admin intervention.Brand new.66.51.99.61:27015Either nobody joins and I get to complain about the death of community for another decade, or somebody joins and proves me wrong.

I agree with you on principle, just not your application. Buy a server computer, and upgrade your home network services. Then host your own server, so that people can't control you as hard. Or shut you down because someone complains to your server provider. I don't know the exact laws on that shit in Germany, but I do know I host a private server that I only give out to IRL friends. The password is "Nigger" and that alone will filter out those I don't want inside it.
