>>536600665Here is my idea to compromise mountain fortresses: minidrills dropped that then core via long lasting battery power the full distance to inner chambers- dozens if not hundreds of them depending on if you want a small breach or structural compromise of the mountain. trick is to not displace soil on surface but rather simply ensure it does not press the drill so hard it seizes. You run these and give them maybe basic navigation at most to stay in the area and continually core through the mountain until it is swiss cheese, preferably at a desired layer, and by layers inferred with sensors monitoring. Drills should be superior to hardness of rock and resonant as well to assist in displacement. If they attempt attack of the drills, given it only displaces behind it, they are unable to do much about it without assisting in destruction of their own fortress. You can do this repeatedly collapsing each layer of the facility or to collapse their tunnel networks that move their armaments around. Otherwise work inward through tunnels, though they will likely get desperate and create impasses as such. Once the stronghold is rendered intraversible you can choose to excavate, perhaps force negotiations of occupants that found shelter and provisions within. Oh and if any of the minidrills happens to breach, you can then administer stuff that would flush them out of the location altogether or speed up capitulation to those who are laying siege. Won't get into that. Further, if gravity of rock and soil would cause drill to seize if on top of it, move diagonally and horizontally. The minidrills themselves can be affixed with pursuasive means to ensure occupants exit as well. Pacing should be slow to prevent overheating of the drills.
