How did Mongolia go from empire to one of the most irrelevant countries in the world?
They got bored, now they just get to chill on the comfy steppe with their horses and camels and shit
you have to a creative people to maintain an empire
Its the fate of most steppenigger nations. They have a short peak and thats it for them. You can't rule long term from horseback. You're eventually gonna have to change or disappear.
>>536616052How are they irrelevant? 10% of the entire world population is descended from Mongolians to this day. The Turkic Confederation is rejoining them.
They were the niggers of their time. They were extremely violent which allowed them to slaughter anyone in their path, but they were absolutely shit at maintaining order. Once the people they subjugated realized they were incompetent at maintaining order, everyone across the Mongol empire began rebelling.
>>536616052Same with Portugal tho, even my little ex yugo country slovenia is doing better
candle burn very bright from both ends burn out fast
>>536616052No, that's what it does, it goes in cycles. Every so many centuries, it produces an unstoppable army that threatens the whole world and then rages out of control for a few decades, and then just dissipates on it's own after a certain amount of time.Mongolia is dormant right now, but we'll be due for another big one soon.
China and Iran revolted in the 14th century, while there was tons of infighting at the top, and the empire kind of collapsedA bunch of Mongol splinter states persisted longer, but eventually guns put an end to the dominance of steppe cavalry and then they were left with a big, low-population country which couldn't punch above its weight anymore. Even got conquered by China and Russia for a while before regaining independence.
>>536616052Could ask the same thing about England.
>>536616052They were basically land pirates.
>>536616052They elected Putin and invaded Ukraine.
>>536616052>build entire empire around a god king>god king dies>his successors all leave the multiple war fronts they created to have a civil war in the homeland to be the next god king>civil war and all the leaderless fronts converge into one giant collapse as all the people they were fighting start catching up and push their leaderless forces out
>>536616052The successful Mongols moved to rule China and India. Mongols in Mongolia are the ones who didn't bother.
>>536616052Chingis Khan's grandsons were assimilated by the cultures that they conquered. Many of them converted to Islam like Berke and Shiban.
