I have a feeling no one here knows what that actually is and would be surprised if they actually have to slog through it. If you read the New Testament you’ll see that various groups of Jews had different interpretations on how to follow the Torah. Jesus engaged in these types of debates. Around the time of Paul these debates (most without resolution) were written down. These are not abstract theological debates on the nature of God or Good and Evil. But debates/commentary on the most boring part of the Hebrew Bible: Late Exodus - Deuteronomy. If an ox kills a man but the ox dies in the process must one pay the fine of a new ox? If the man is injured but kills the ox must the owner be paid for half an ox?Instead of answering these questions with a yes or no the fucking Jews decided to write another commentary on top of this one. This is the Talmud. A commentary on top of a commentary on top of a commentary.The format is nearly inaccessible. Instead of a platonic dialogue we have a James fucking Joyce stream of consciousness debate that goes nowhere and the fucking question is never answered.All those juicy tid bits you see on here on fucking kids and Jesus boiling in shit etc?
