Its difficult to date a religion because every religion claims it was the first religion created by God at the begining of the world, even if you can verify some guy only thought it up recently.

Honestly, I would say that Mandeaism, Judiasm, and Catholicism are all of the same age. They all came to be at the same time period around the destruction of the second temple, in fact they were different responses to how to keep their belief going after the temple/old covenant was destroyed.

I think current Judaism was an outgrowth of Christianity, and that Christianity was itself at one time the predominant religion of Jewish slave traders. All Middle Eastern religions have undergone dynamic revamps over the last 2500 years, to the point that it's hard to say where one version becomes another version. I would say Mandeaists are older than both Christianity and Judaism, but Jews try to claim sole descent from Hebrews. The whole thing is fictional anyhow.

During the various Persian empires, Jews emerged as a merchant class, and would fall in and out of favor based on who was running things in Persia. Iraqi Jews followed a man called John the Baptist who preached weekly purification rituals. Later, Greek Jews sought to assert Jesus as the final prophet, and that John paved the way for him. Mandeans rejected the idea of Jesus.

Let's be clear right here: these people probably never even really lived.

The Mandeans and the Christians both get muddled with Gnostic and Neoplatonic influences from Greece as well. Christianity as we think of it today went through massive changes and schisms. The Mandeans changed much less because they tied their religion to their ethnicity. This strategy later re-emerged in among pockets of Christianity, and that's when modern Sephardic Judaism came about.

The origins of Islam are phony. The earliest mosques pointed toward Petra in Jordan, not Mecca. No archeological remains have ever been found at Mecca and there is no record of Mecca having existed in ancient times. There is no reason for Mecca to have existed as a supposed caravan crossroads in the middke of a desert with no water. Caravans moved along the coast since the bronze age, not through a desert.

There are way too many Jesuses to say who lived. Besides, the stories the Christians tell about John are totally different than the stories the Mandeans tell about John, who they consider to the be final prophet of God. There's no way they crossed paths with each other. But moreover, it's fictional. Maybe John really lived, but what's said about him is mythical. It's like, yeah, maybe there really was a Paul Bunyan, but do you really think he was 20 feet tall and owned a blue ox? Paul Bunyan only supposedly lived 200 years in a place with hardly any migration. You want me to put faith in whether or not John the Baptist really lived 2100 years ago? Jesus is far worse, as the stories about him contradict themselves even within the same book.

Why are Germans so fucking stupid? I swear you are an entire race of midwits and the dumbest people on earth.

ITT we are talking about Mandeans who believe their religion was started by Adam, the first man, at the creation of the world. Did you do any research, any at all, before you began spewing shit out of your ignorant German mouth? No, you just thought you'd interject an "actually statement" because you are a worthless Germ who thinks he knows everything while being the dumbest guy in the room.
