For a shitpost, you can do a very rough back-of-the-napkin calculation.

As of June 2026, Russia controls about 20% of Ukraine’s internationally recognized territory (including Crimea and the parts of Donbas occupied before the 2022 invasion). Multiple recent trackers and analyses put the figure around 18–20%

The full-scale invasion began on 24 February 2022. As of today (5 June 2026), that’s about 1,563 days, or 4.28 years.

If we use the simple figure:

* 20% of Ukraine conquered in 4.28 years
* Rate = about 4.67% of a Ukraine per year

Now compare that to Europe.

The area of Ukraine is about 603,628 km2.
The area of Europe is about 10.18 million km2.

Europe is therefore roughly:

10,180,000 ÷ 603,628 ≈ 16.9 Ukraines

At the current average pace:

* 1 Ukraine = 4.28 / 0.20 ≈ 21.4 years
* 16.9 Ukraines = 21.4 × 16.9 ≈ 362 years

So the meme answer is:

“At the current rate of territorial gains, Russia would need roughly 360 years to conquer an area equal to the entire European continent.”

And that’s actually generous because:

* Russia’s biggest gains came in the first months of the war.
* Front lines have largely stagnated for years.
* Recent net gains have been tiny, and some recent periods have even shown net territorial losses.
