how the fuck Italy doesn't have the 2nd amendment when it's literally based on the Roman Republic?
>>536644022So which amendments would the ideal republic acquire from the American experiment, and which ones would it consciously reject?

>>536644022No. The Roman Republic did not allow citizens to hold arms like Americans do. Romans viewed carrying weapons in public as a barbaric habit and prioritized strict state control over private weaponry. The fundamental differences in how the two civilizations handled weapons include:The Military Requirement: In the early Republic, only property-owning citizens were allowed to serve in the military, and they were legally required to provide their own weapons and armor. However, this was an obligation of service, not a "right" to bear arms. By 107 BCE, this changed when Gaius Marius created a professional standing army, with the state providing all standard equipment.City Bans: Citizens were generally barred from carrying military weapons, such as swords, within city limits. Inside Rome’s sacred religious boundary—the pomerium—carrying arms was illegal.Self-Defense Limits: Citizens could own weapons, but carrying them in public for self-defense was heavily regulated. Laws like the Lex Cornelia de Sicariis et Veneficiis (passed by the dictator Sulla in 81 BCE) specifically banned carrying weapons with the intent to commit homicide or rob someone, often leading to crackdowns on thugs carrying curved knives (sica).

>>536644022Why the fuck you want guns to do nothing with them when you already do nothing about the people fucking you over?Just look at the burgers, like a billion guns and nobody actually uses them to stop the jews.If anything, having a 2a means they know you won't ever do shit
>>536644467You mean because of the corrupt politicians on top using everybody as slaves for their own gains? You mean because of the "emperors" dancing when the plebs burn?Or because the rampant child raping happening in high levels of goverment?Or is it because of the bread and circus to keep the plebs in check?
>>536644821No weapons or soldiers beyond the Rubicon and all that, yes
>>536644022The second amendment is actually based on the English experience. The Normons invaded and conquered England with 5,000 knights in 1066, the king owned the land and gave out much of it to Barons, in exchange these Barons were required to provide a set number of Knights for 40 days of Military service a year. The Knights were giving a Fee, or 600 acres, each with 5 peasant families, with which to draw an income. Because England had primogeniture and only the Eldest inherited, and because Knights had to pay for their own service out of pocket (or pay a man at arms shield money to do it for them), but kept the land regardless, many Knights decided to forgo the expensive titling process and stay Squires. This meant that in 1300s, during the Scottish Wars of Independence, only about 1000 knights remained. All warfare at this point was Knights acting as heavy Cavalry, however the Scottish schilrons (men in sqaures with long spears); defeated the English Knights. The Black Death also decimated the Knightly class to where only 173 remained. Because heavy Cavalry was now useless, English armies began to fill the ranks with Archers, eventually getting to 80%, compared to 15% around the rest or Europe. During the Hundred Years War, the english tactic was to send out light cavalry to burn French towns, rape the women and they were paid only with plunder; this forced the French to send knights after them, where the English would lure them into a field with fortified positions. The French french Knights would charge and be cut down by the volley of arrows from the archers. For example, at Agincourt, 6,000 English archers would have looser 120,000 arrows in the first couple of minutes, covering the small battlefield and killing thousands of French Knights. This lead to laws being passed to ensure England always had enough Archers, requiring all freemen to own a bow and practice archery every Sunday for 2 hours after church. This created the idea of the 2A

>>536644821This is a very stupid response, it clearly admits they were allowed to keep arms but bearing them in public was frowned upon.
