It's interesting that people think globalism hasn't been reached, but it has been a long ago, and now "nations" are still a "thing" to maintain the illusion that shared culture & language is still a thing, but globalism has its reached its main goal already of having "one" unified flag, "one" military, "one" universal language (English), for e.x. EU is just an economic union (besides the other "independent" universal economic zones), that's apart of the global union.
