Post-war liberalism was entirely dependent on television and the unique media environment that it created. Prior to its advent, paper and radio were not adequate to divorce people from their nature and conpletely override all prior conceptions of the world in the way that TV and movies did. Now that the hegemony of television is ending, people are seeing unvarnished reality again through the internet. It was only during the supremacy of this particular media form that people could be brainwashed in the way that they were for the past 70 years. The right’s global ascendancy is largely explained by the decline of TV.
