Just another reflection of America's corruption down to its foundation.
Man donates land for a park to be built and the city sells it off for a data center 25 years later.

Fundamentally they do not respect you.
>>
>>536703144
>30m tax expected
But in reality they're most likely given massive tax breaks for something like 80 years

their mindset now is if they build it who is going to stop them?
consequences only exist if they actually face them
>>
>>536703245
The data center won't even be completed, more than half of current data center projects are sitting idle.

Never has there been such a wicked greedy generation in modern history. Although it’s probably partly their parents fault for being pretty insane as well. The stories of my grandpa beating the shit out of my dad as a kid is pretty fucked. And he said his grandparents were even worse.

So the argument is that if I say "You can have my land but it must be used for X" then, forever into the future, it may only be used for X?
That's a legitimately retarded argument

Did you never find it odd that the government who forced equality at gunpoint didn't let you issue currency without going through their banking system? That's not very equal. Neither is their power of Eminent Domain. That's where they can take your land, give you compensation in the currency they issue out of thin air and then give/sell the land to a private company for any price they want.

Nobody is forcing them to take the land.

>>
>>536705596
>if they cannot fulfill the obligation then they have no reason to accept the donation
How far into the future do they have to fulfil that obligation?
If the town accepts the donation and turns it into a park (as they did) do they now have to perpetually maintain that park literally forever?

Put another way, if somebody gives you a car, are you obligated to keep that car running for 50 years and never sell it?
>>
>>536705465
Your argument are that agreements between parties are retarded? Retard.
>>
>>536705188
It's hilarious irony, but "Communist" China has stronger property rights than Freedomland.
>>
>>536705743
>Your argument are that agreements between parties are retarded
My argument is that
a) Nobody has shown the actual deed or the agreement between the parties
b) An agreement that says "You must use this land for X perpetually" is unreasonable and laughable

Thus the fact that 26 years later the land is being used for a non-park purpose is reasonable, expected, and natural.
>>
>>536705739
Absolutely if they say
>ill gice it to you but only if you keep it running forever
and i have every right to say "no thanks, keep the car that sounds like a chore"
these kikes had every right to refuse to build a park, but they don't get to keep the land too
>>
>>536705739

if you accept it as a DONATION you should be obligated to honor the terms of the donation, but at the very least you should never be able to sell it like this

>Man donates land for a park
Did he donate enough money to build the park and maintain that park in perpetuity
>and the city sells it off for a data center 25 years later.
Cool, so if the city has 10M from the land sale then will have another 30M a year in tax revenue from the data center they can probably afford to build and maintain a park somewhere.
As someone who works in municipal government I can tell you that 99% of the time if someone is trying to """donate""" land to the town is an enormous red flag that there's some serious fucking problem with it.
But I'm sure there's nothing more to this story than this clickbait headline you posted.
>>
>>536705946
Plus there was a stipulation he can't sell, and that sale pays dividends for years to come
>>
>>536706068
>As someone who works in municipal government
anecdotal schmanecdotal especially when the poster is implying "anti-datercenter=china"
>>
>>536705739
The city never actually went forward with building a park on the donated land from the family. They’ve spent 25 years sitting on it until they had an opportunity to sell to a private interest (in this case the data center). That’s a blatant violation of the contract, and if the courts uphold the city’s decision it basically renders deeds worthless as legal documents.
>>
>>536706068
This 100% is a ragebait article because "Muh Datacenterz"
I looked at several other sources and none of them had any details about the original agreement between the government and the former owner

There's a reason for that
>>
>>536706154
>That’s a blatant violation of the contract
Where's the contract?
I looked around and couldn't find it
>>
>>536706170
so, you're saying "datacenters good"?
>>
>>536705137
There's no "arguement", it's legally stated in the lease that the land must be utilized for a park upon purchase.

>it's legally stated in the lease that the land must be utilized for a park upon purchase.

"Equality" is a psyop. No one is equal to anyone.
>>
>>536703144

Wouldn't that mean the deal is reverted if the condition is violated?
So it's not the city's land. It's the farmer's.

Looks like the city later gave away the land to a government adjacent non-profit corporation which then sold it. Looked on their website and one of the treasurers Kelly Cmerek who was also elected a city council member.

>Mr. Cmerek has more than 28 years of banking experience and is currently with Wells Fargo as a business development officer in the SBA Lending Group. Before joining Wells Fargo, Mr. Cmerek was a lender in the SBA lending division of PNC Bank for some 26 years. His banking career started in 1995 after earning his bachelor’s degree in Finance with honors from the University of Texas at Austin.

>In 2023, he surpassed the $400 million mark in SBA loan production, a prestigious accomplishment among lenders. He is responsible for originating loan transactions for projects ranging from $350,000 to $10,000,000.

top kek. As for the reasonableness of converting commons to a data center you are a niggerfaggot.

>>
>>536705137
There are contracts which enforce this, yes.
The farmer didn't draft one.
He just gifted the land, and the city could do whatever it wanted.

You see, boomers have this thing called trust in the system. They're retarded.
They refuse to accept that the system can't be trusted.
In part it's because they spent 40+ years trusting it and just can't let go of the hardwiring.
Only a small part though.
At their age, they are now either in some way or completely dependent on the system.
If they violate their trust in the system, they'll feel really bad about depending on it, or they worry that if too many people do that the system will break and they can't benefit from the system anymore.

This farmer trusted the word of politicians.
He'll repeat that mistake until he's dead.
>>
>>536703144

That's why you need to add stipulations to the donation. The guy who donated Garden of the Gods in Colorado put it into writing that it will always remain free to the public, lest the state pay retroactive restitution to his family and estate (including interest).
>>
>>536704020
the words on paper are only as good as your ability to fight it in court. farmer vs tech giant, farmer loses.

the city technically can sell park land for other uses, but they have to hold a public vote to do so, which they didn't, so the city is arguing that the zoning of that land means they can't actually regulate what that land is used for so it's not their fault if a data center pays them 10 million dollars to build a data center on it.
>>
>>536707904
>farmer vs tech giant
this isn't a farmer though. this is all the citizens of taylor, texas, that are being stolen from. if it was a condition of the sale written into the deed, it's a pretty easy case to win.

>>
>>536703144
This is why you never donate anything or give anything away for free. If you want to make sure your resources are used the way you intended then you have to do it yourself, otherwise assume some jew is just going to steal it.

Donating blood? Some jew is going to take it.

Donating organs? Some jew is going to take it.

Donating money? It's just going to be used to pay women in jewish daycare.

Donating land? You'd have to be fucking retarded to do this, some jew is going to take it.

>You see, boomers have this thing called trust in the system. They're retarded.

If this was donated in 1999 it is unlikely (but still possible) it was a boomer. More likely part of the Greatest Generation or Silent Generation.

ie when the USA, Europe and Canada were white. The government worked for the people for the most part, and they planted trees so their kids could enjoy the shade.

if you bothered to read the article it gives the details
>farmer donated the land for a park because "them kids don't have nowhere to play"
>Pre 1999 – a farmer’s promise to his neighbors,
>July 7, 1999 – Bland granted the land to the Texas Parks and Recreation Foundation, a public trust, for $10 on the condition it be used as a park,
>2003 - Texas Parks and Recreation Foundation granted the land to another non-profit called the Williamson County Park Foundation,
>2003, one month later, Williamson County Park Foundation gave the land to the City of Taylor,
>2008 - the city of Taylor sold the land to the Taylor Economic Development Corporation (TEDC) for $15,000,
>2025 – TEDC sold the land to data center developers Blueprint for $10 million.
you had a well meaning boomer who donated the land because "1999 high trust society". texas government and (((non-profits))) proceeded to play a shell game to wash the sale of the contract condition that the land is to be used for a park. now the city and the data center builders can say it wasn't them who violated the contract, Texas Parks and Rec and Williamson County Park Foundation can argue for statute of limitations / render the contract unenforceable. at best the city will payout a couple million in settlement to the farmer's descendants.

NEVER DONATE LAND, MONEY, RESOURCES TO ANY GOVERNMENT, NON-PROFIT, NGO.

the farmer donated it in 1999 when his small town was still a high trust society. he did it for the equivalent of 1999 upvotes. assuming niggas won't do retarded shit for upvotes is truly foolish.
>>
what's the nominal fee? is that from the donor or the donee?
>here, have my land
>we'll take it, but only if you pay $10 first
what
or is it that they can't take donations and had to pay a nominal fee for the land? if so, his stipulations mean nothing since they paid for it.
>>
>>536705137
That depends on if they signed a legal contract and reneged on it or the retarded boomer just shook on it. If the state broke the contract they'll have to pay him fair value for the current value of the land
>>
>>536711909
It's evil as fuck, but this is exactly how to do it. What they did appears completely legal, which is why I agree:

>>536713150
>If the state broke the contract they'll have to pay him fair value for the current value of the land
That would entirely depend on the terms of the contract
