I am thinking about a tiny fictional Otter-sized Simocetus/Aetiocetus hybrid descendant from those introduced to another planet which uses echolocation, electroreception and a Duck-like beak with baleen on the upper jaw to filter-feed tiny Crustaceans and locate tiny Squid in the shallow salt marshes of this world... Fun fact, they secrete a isovaleric acid wax in a hole to hibernate in to prevent moisture loss in the dry season, a bit like a Lungfish!
They also re-evolved hind-flippers and a well-developed pelvis for climbing through the marshes.
Um okay
>>536703456What would be the pet conditions to have one? Do you need a pair or more? Are they smart like orcas and can talk to you via AI translator?I have so many questions
>>536703641It's a lovely Planet with black grass lining the Marshes due to the World orbiting two M4V Type Red Dwarfs which are in close proximity to each other.
>>536703892They are highly intelligent and rather stubborn so likely would try to escape back into their marshes which is a rather specific habitat they have slowly evolved to adapt to. Yes they do basically have a language though so high-frequency to be inaudible to Man.
>>536703892Probably more due to social behaviour dynamics. They breed rather slowly.
>>536704159What if I had a big private marsh area designed for them and underwater microphones and AI working to translate it and then later I can use AI to communicate to my pets?
i found a dead harbour porpoise yesterday
>>536705191Could work but the pitch would have to be finely tuned as not to confuse them.
>>536705370Do you think they are smart enough to recognize races in humans?
>>536705327Cetacean Bacterial Pneumonia is a serious problem... Kills the largest Whales all the same and likely killed Timmy the Humpback Whale.
>>536705480Hard to know really because their sense of smell is absent, their eyesight poor, still would make more accurate associations than a liberal.
