I handled op-sec in a militia before and it's incredibly easy because their agents are extremely slack-ass. They think you're a fucking moron, but they're also not as stupid as you think. Do not mistake their laziness as stupidity, these people can be very clever and competent depending on their experience and rarely do they send inexperienced agents to infiltrate even small groups. If you try to trick him with some kind of shit-test he will likely see it, counter it, and either flip the script on you and take over while YOU get accused of being the fed and kicked out, or he'll vanish up in smoke to be replaced by a new one a month to year later. Does your group have membership? Do you guys talk about paying dues? Feds will usually do everything as properly as possible, but so will astute passionate people who want to create action. That's the main and single problem with dealing with feds, is that they're too perfect of a member usually but you also gamble that it could just be a perfect member. So what can you do to make sure? You can dig into his past but they have entire departments that thoroughly construct air-tight backgrounds for agents even on a regular LEO level. I do not have any sure-fire methods of testing agents to be sure, it's more of something you gain from having an experience vetting people and researching behavior, but you can get a good idea using basic social engineering techniques which will squeeze out underlying views. Extremely good agents are aware of these, but if you have a small group and this guy is already setting off alarm bells then he likely isn't an extremely good agent. I'd say he's probably fairly experienced but getting lazy and cocky in his work. How clean are his boots? What kinds of clothing does he usually wear? Also, I would go through and 1 on 1 ask everyone in the group how they would feel or what they would do if law enforcement gained interest in the group and was observing them. Ask him last.
