They have money tied up in oil companies and they don't want to lose the returns they have been used to, nor do they want to be saddled with stranded assets.For consumers of conservative propaganda, e.g. people who don't hold any power of any kind, there is no organic reason for them to be against it. They just tend to be less intelligent and can't navigate themselves out of the sportsball team rooting interest that politics is framed as in the United States.There is no downside for end use consumers to have more energy supply.
