Aristotle explained 2400 years ago that socities go through a revolution, like the revolution of a wheel, they start as a monarchy, in response to "oppression" they adopt a democracy, which degenerates into a corrupt oligarchy which also oppresses the people, that oligarchy is then overthrown by a just ruler, a despot who punishes the corruption, his rule due to the prestige of his accomplishments and returning justice to society, then becomes passed down from father to son, thus returning the form of government to monarchy. Then the cycle repeats again. We are in the part of the cycle where the people realize they are being oppressed by an unelected oligarchy, or in our particular case, pluto-democracy, a plutocratic oligarchy where the rich pretend they are serving the interests of the people. There's no way to reverse this, as the people will unrelentingly and inevitably discover they are being oppressed by an oligarchic elite and seek justice which comes in the form of a strong ruler who punishes the corrupt and acts in the interests of the people.
