Recently there was the Wasian meetup in NYC. This is huge for the “Wasian identity” because East Coast Americans aren’t cringe like West Coast ones. For the first time, Wasians can speak who are descended from “heritage” Anglo-Americans or Ellis Islander Euro-Americans. Not just gold diggers and wannabe actors like make up the genetic profile of West Coast inhabitants.

We can observe this effect linguistically in real time. The term “Hapa” is pretty much archaic at this point. Seems normies have collectively decided they are called “Wasians.”

Maybe it’s for the best, since “Hapa” is tied up with r/Aznmasculinity and Josh Luna and is just some obscure Hawaiian-Amercian and West Coast pidgin, whereas “Wasian” is more like W(in)Asian.

By losing the linguistic war, subredditors are already losing.
