A lot folks here probably don’t understand really whats going on here, Northern Irish politics are quite complicated.. as someone from Belfast I will try to explain. The riots you are seeing as far as I understand are mainly by loyalists but with some republican involvement. Loyalists being pro british- republicans being pro irish. The Irish republicans here are PRO immigration for the most part. The IRA were SOCIALISTS, COMMUNISTS and left leaning. To all the yanks shouting “up the ra” they are what has caused this mess. The republicans sympathise with being “oppressed”, “second hand citizens” etc. This is why theh love immigrants, they also support Palestine heavily as they think it is a similar situation in being occupied occupied and oppressed. The loyalists on the other hand, no they dont fuck about when it comes to this shit. I tried explaining the reaction this would cause after the attempted beheading but nobody really believed it. These guys are literally going to burn people out of their homes, burn community centers, disrupt public transport and be as loud as possible. 1/2

Some of these boyos heavily support Isreal which is why you may see some people posting isreali flags, but this is basically just to piss of the republicans since they support Palestine. This is mainly just kids and young people so far, if it was property coordinated, Belfast would literally be stopped, it has happened before. The paramilitarys however could loosely be calling the shots, if the police dont fuck up I’d expect this to die down in a few days, but if they bite back, or if the politicians piss people off even more here then expect around a week of what you have just seen. I’d expect this to stay roughly the level it is at, but if the government steps on their toes then expect bomb threats, major disruptions and a significantly more noticeable paramilitary presence. You have to understand that the a lot of the old school paramilitary boys want to keep the peace after decades of conflict, but at the same time people have lost their patience with the government. You only have to go back 20/30 years ago and this shit was happening daily here over some flags, someone having their eyes cut out and nearly decapitated by an immigrant after people being ignored with regards to the immigration issue in general? yea welcome back to the 80’s.
