Obviously a civilian isn't going to "saar" you, but they deeply believe there's a class distinction between you and them. I'm in medicine now, and I've worked with a couple of officers who took the military bursary route, and it's the same shit as ever. Officers really play into this, a middle class kid who goes through Sandhurst or Dartmouth will come out sounding like Jacob Rees-Moggs.
