If Protestantism is the true word of God, why didn't Protestants exist for 1500 years?

More or less, they larp as the true catholic church after the fashion, though as hundreds of denominations branched off from calvinism, anglican, lutheran, etc. this thesis was "lost in translation" if you will. Both are wrong and just sectarian interpretations of the clerical system that was de facto established after nicea/chalcedon
