no raging prophet of rust seems to even know that in C++ unique_ptr and shared_ptr do the same job that is flaunted as the main - and apparently only - important feature of rust. besides, the first rust program I tried to use - the pijul version control system - immediately crashes with a segfault (latest available on Ubuntu 20.04, when adding files). so much for memory safety.
