Every other period of American military history has been basically this but without the ability for the public to externally verify how fucking inept the US military is. It had crossed that very low bar. Korea in my opinion is a prime example of my point that the US used to just be very good at hiding the fact that it was a pathetic joke from the public. Did you know that one of the concepts at the core of modern US military doctrine, the OODA loop, was initially just a propaganda line to explain how the US's lies claiming to have shot down several enemy fighter jets for every jet they lost was plausible in spite of the Migs superior performance in nearly every respect? In reality the loss exchange ratio in the air during that war was only rarely even in the USAF's favor, much less 5:1 in their favor. In spite of the fact that the OODA loop is as real as carrots giving you superhuman nightvision, the US military still teaches it to officers and bases its doctrine around the concept.
