I recently took a road trip through Colorado and fell in love with the scenery. I'm thinking of retiring out there but I'm conflicted.

The beauty of the nature out here is unparalleled and the weather is decent without dipping into either temperature extreme. Driving through the rural areas everyone seems normal, but in Colorado Springs I've never seen such a concentration of colored hair, facial pierced butch lesbian couples. Gun laws seemed quasi-cucked as well.

On the flip side, being from the tri-state and having spent most of my life in urban hellscapes, I've never been around a majority white population before. It was, in more ways than one, a breath of fresh air.

I'm conflicted. Obviously to avoid the libs I would buy land outside the cities, but the state government leans blue. Can Colorado-anons give me the scoop on if CO is the place to be? For reference, I want to be able to shoot in my backyard, stare at the mountains with a cup of coffee in the morning, and I believe Christian fascism to be the only legitimate form of government.

Yeah, the nature is so beautiful that the EPA likes to dump poison in the rivers periodically just to keep rural folks on their toes, lol.

You want the truth about Colorado? It's just another State full of victims too pussy to overthrow the crooked and illegitimate government.

But if you like mountain scenery, sure, it's pretty. Just bring your own water.

Find property in the South to homestead. Avoid Denver and CS

If you don't center your entire life around outdoor activities then Colorado has almost nothing going for it. Even then you need to be flitty rich or be willing to spend up to an hour getting somewhere each way.

All the nice parts of the state to live in are insanely overpriced. Housing prices across the state are generally high and the quality is low. A motel room converted into an "apartment" for over 1k a month is common to see. Huge housing shortage and no one in charge actually wants to fix it. NIMBY faggots in some towns have actually voted down new affordable housing developments meant for people working in town. They want a slave class that drives 1-2 hours each way to work service jobs.

The dream of being able to shoot in your backyard is a complete pipe dream unless your willing to live out in the desert 30+ minutes from town on a unmaintained dirt road.

But I am. I work from home and if I retire out there I won't need much, I'm a simple man. So where's the best place in the state to do something like that? I spent some time near Great Sand Dunes and found some listings for 40 acres within an hour of Alamosa. Can I shoot on that?

I'll be very nice since I'm familiar with all corners of the state, try outside of Montrose, red county and city on western slopes far opposite Denver, still near loads of beautiful land and landmarks and the San Jauns, but has nice mix of more open arid land as you go to Grand Junction and Utah border lands. Telluride and surrounding area is rich boomer gentrified shit hole but unparalleled natural beauty. Just go off of election maps by county since 1984 to get an idea of blue bleed l.

Shooting on private property is gonna vary based on County laws. Living in the desert and "weather is decent without dipping into either temperature extreme." are two conflicting ideas. Don't listen to the "dry heat" nonsense, high UV exposure is damaging to the body and if you don't have a tolerance for it then it's fucking miserable. Go spend time in the area in the middle of summer before assuming you'll adapt. Make sure you actually enjoy being in the desert and not just looking at it so you don't get stuck in the same boat as me.

Before you even think of buying any property, look up the water rights. Rural properties having absolutely no water rights attached to the land is pretty common. No water rights doesn't mean the land lacks any water infrastructure, it means you have no legal right to water below that land via a well or water the follows through connected waterways. Forcing you to truck in water from town yourself or pay someone else to do it. The core philosophy of western water law is "Fuck You, I got mine", if you keep that in mind it starts to make some sense.

Colorado is just a more-mountainous Washington state. Both states suck for all the same exact reasons. 90% of the current occupants would need to perish to make the two states utopian gardens of Eden
