Right-wing media was completely wrong about the 'impending' collapse of the San Francisco Bay Area. There are articles from way back in the George W. Bush era about how SF was a shithole on the verge of collapse.

In reality, it is wealthier than ever, and the AI boom has only made it richer and richer. Why were right-wingers so wrong in their predictions? There were people in 2008 claiming that Austin or Miami (lol) would 'overtake' the Bay region.

Nope. Not even close.
>>
they literally have a website that tracks shit on the sidewalks but tell me more about this faggot paradise
>>
>>536907976
The bums and the junkies didn't make any difference. Wealthy people and founders of trillion-dollar companies still chose to locate in the Bay Area. This is the opposite of right-wing predictions.

The biggest California haters are those who have never left their own shithole states. Nobody's buying it and California continues to mog the rest of the country.
>>
They see a culture, life, or reality that they hate, and tell themselves comforting lies to feel better about it instead of engaging with what is uncomfortable.

Nope; didn't happen. That's another failed meme from years ago. Austin's tech recession is actually much worse than what the Bay Area ever experienced. AI mega-firms like Anthropic specifically established themselves in San Francisco in the early-2020's.

Stop reciting stale memes and predictions from 20 years ago and look at reality. That's my whole point.
>>

All of America is a shithole on the verge of collapse. Stop coping.

cool

SF is a dump. People smoke crack and shit on the street.
>>
>>536908224
i hate it, indians and mexicans everywhere.
>>
>>536908555
Now you're in the realm of pure cope. The Bay Area hosts the biggest AI companies in the world, and that development has taken place entirely in the past few years.

Again, that's the total opposite of the 'decline' predictions that have been popping up since the original 2001 tech recession. People predicting the 'fall' of the Bay Area increasingly look at stupid as someone like Peter Zeihan predicting the 'imminent' fall of China back in 2010.
>>
>>536908028
if an area is flooded with bums and junkies and the companies are leaving it because it's unaffordable, dangerous and bad for business it means the area has collapsed, you fucking retard. What the fuck do you think a 'collapse' looks like you stupid fuck. Do you think because Rome was still the biggest city in the world in 450 ad doesn't mean it was collapsing? Holy fuck you're dumb.
>>
>>536908660
>and the companies are leaving it

WRONG again. Did you not read the thread. There were Fox News Boomer PREDICTIONS that a corporate exodus would hit SF. But the opposite happened, powered by AI and other recent developments.

Again, stop reciting stale memes and have the courage to deal with reality.

SF has one of the highest concentrations of human shits on the streets outside of India

>>536907976

what if this was actually a proxy for tech investment in the area

>>536908555
Holy cope lol

People are not afraid to fail in the Bay Area, and eventually they don't.

Turns out computers were kinda cool afterall. You guys don't realize how much society rejected them at first. They were hardcore nerds only. The AI rejection feels quite similar.

>Right-wing media was completely wrong about the 'impending' collapse of the San Francisco Bay Area

I like how leftoidism is just a constant strawman argument. I don't recall hearing about the collapse of San Francisco, I do however remember hearing about the fecalization of the streets, rampant criminality resulting in cars being broken into if they have any items in them, and of course the insane cost of living, especially housing making life for normal people, hell where they're shoved into tiny communal living spaces they can barely afford. It's a city for the top 0.1% while all the workers are screwed either from the insane prices caused by the elite or the crime caused by the elite's pets, the drug addicts they coddle.

Does Austin have a poop map?
>>
>>536908364
not soon enough
I hope every tech company goes to Texas and takes their H1-Bs with them
>>
>>536910249
Austin is a certified shithole dude. Dirty, dangerous, run down. If you were to start recording the shit on the streets there I bet it'd be similar.

Nobody has tried to do so anywhere but California though, because hating on Texas doesn't get the same kind of attention
>>
>>536910380
I've heard about some homelessness in Austin, but nothing that compares fent addict dystopia of San Fran. I've known a few people who lived in San Fran and left because their cars got broken into or they were robbed at knifepoint. None in Austin though.

SF: 497 new companies in 2023
Population ~836k in 2023
And that is JUST San Francisco proper, the Bay Area is much bigger.

Israel: 622 companies in 2023
Population like 9 million

Some quick stats AI dug up for me. I do believe the overdose rate is worse in SF (mostly concentrated in some really shitty parts around the Tenderloin) but personally I don't think that'd drive me to move somewhere with double the murder rate.
>>
Thats nice, now lets see Oakland
>>
>>536907670
Arizona here, keep believing your fiefdom where you have to erect walls around your neighbors is the apex of America while we quietly relocate Silicon Valley. It'll make it easier on us.
>>
>>536911033
>murder rate

but how much of the Austin murders are blacks killing each other in the ghetto parts, and how many of the San Fran murders are fent addicts killing random people walking down the street? That's what stats don't tell you.
>>
>>536911271
This
>>
>>536911271
>Austin
>Ghetto parts
Lol. Just no.
That being said you are right in that texas violent crime is very usually not random that doesnt really happen down here much, surprisingly enough downtownish area of austin might have a little bit of that, like you hear about in cali or new york, but nothing major. I think part of that comes from the city being kind of soft in general and really not ghetto at all.

Meanwhile you go to houston, the city with the highest crime rate in texas, and homeless people tend to be a little more respectful, although the overall vibe feels more unsafe
>>
>>536911271
>SF has no niggers
You're making my case for me. Or you would be, except that both cities are less than 10% black
>>
>>536911529
Didn't some homo kill men and throw them in the river or something?
>>
>>536911679
Im not sure man i dont keep up like that but the fact some canadian has heard about it is a testament to how uncommon that type of thing is, meanwhile in houston they keep finding bodies in the bayou, there was a dead guy they hung off a highway bridge...barely even gets remembered after the evening news lmao

Just for perspective, in the history of austin theres never been a famous rapper to ever come out. Now consider how much rap music has come from houston, less but still alot from DFW, then even a small amount from san antonio.

Austin is really very friendly place, almost too friendly in a fake way sometimes. But sometimes not, the culture has definately changed from what it was once famous for. But the ghettos thing might be like 1 or 2 blocks on the east side and that aint even shit lol, besides a few random crazies downtown that rightfully think they can get away with whatever cus austins full of pussies lol
