Why don't they change to uranium hexafluoride ?
> Two Japanese companies, Kanto Denka and Central Glass, have formally notified major clients—including Samsung, SK Hynix, and TSMC—that they will permanently cease production of tungsten hexafluoride starting July 1, 2026.

> The core reason for the shutdown is a disruption in raw material supply. Between 60% and 70% of the production cost of tungsten hexafluoride comes from high-purity tungsten powder, a material Japan is almost entirely dependent on China for. Following China's tightening of tungsten export controls in early 2026, shipments of high-purity tungsten powder to Japan have effectively dropped to zero. The Japanese companies managed to keep production going for about five months by drawing down stockpiles, but ultimately failed to secure an alternative source.

> Meanwhile, stock prices of related Chinese manufacturers have soared.

Why don't you switch from breathing oxygen to helium?

>semiconductor industry uses WF6 to form conductive metal traces on chips using chemical vapor deposition
>just switch from a stable element like tungsten to a radioactive highly pyrophoric element like uranium
>what can go wrong

AIEEEEE save us Trump-sama

Why not use copper hexafluoride?
>>
Isn't that the nuclear enrichment compound lol
I don't think you can just switch the first element and get the same exact chemical structure anyways even if the name is similar. Could be wrong, I don't remember bond angles and all that shit.

Because Uranium requires the temperature to be too high. It won't work as a direct replacement.

>highly pyrophoric
So is WF6
>what can go wrong
If they iron out the high temperature problem, not much I suppose.

Happy holidays.

so all of this and AI skyrocketing the RAM/HDD/SDD prices is just to force chink hardware (that's built to be great firewall compliant) to be ubiquitously used?
