Because once you acknowledge a problem with humanity exists the next step is entertaining ideas of how to solve it. Everyone knows the only reliable solutions to a problem like that involve inhumane actions. The problem people will never spontaneously choose to be selfless, so the responsibility of fixing the problem falls on everyone else. Conflict is inevitable, but this raises another issue. There are so many people against the inhumane treatment of others that they will actively hinder any attempts to solve the problem. The problem is destined to become worse until there's no possibility to solve it. It's only barely possible right now, but that window is shrinking every day.
