Why are western people so uneducated regarding the origin of Ukrainians. Almost 90% of them are run-away serfs. There was a decree in Russian empire that if your peasant runs south and crosses the Don river the police aren’t bringing him back. It was wild steps populated by Cossacks and Turks, kind of like land pirates. That is why most of Ukrainians have ridiculously funny surnames, not like typical Russian, derived from the profession or place and ending with -ov -in showing the belonging. The Ukrainian surnames are straight up nicknames, like “chicken”, “beaver”, “ginger”, “lanky”, no endings or grammatical conjugations. The rest of the surnames are just polish ending with -sky. The Ukrainian speak is just all russian peasant language with borrowings from polish and turkish, sounds very nice actually, like from fairy tale, but very outdated. There was never a “Ukrainian nation” or “Ukrainian country”. The first Great Duke of Kiev was literally named Vladimir I and was Russian. Why can’t Europeans into a basic history? All this regions below red line are the same shit. More to the left is already Moldovans and north-west polish. The rest are just Russian.
