Most libertarians are against safety nets because they're funded with taxes and taxation is theft, but I'm against them because cutting them means all the unproductive leaches of society can finally fucking die off, or make themselves useful if they want to survive.
Violence is a part of nature. If people get poor enough, there will be revolutions and the winner will make the rules. That's why you should help your community unless you want to face their wrath eventually.
What do you think would happen if you suddenly took the 30 million or whatever people who rely on welfare to survive and made them completely destitute, desperate, and with nothing to lose

We're all born poor and none of our riches will mean jack when our bodies rot in our tombs. Some people would rather enjoy what they manage to scrape while they're still young and relatively healthy.
