What exactly goes on in an office workplace? I ask because I've never worked in one myself but I've always wondered, what exactly do people do all day? Answer emails? Fill out spreadsheets? Or is it basically just adult daycare for the most part?

It's all broken into categories Jewish daycares: usually women 30-50 mostly make up work or problems or do a lot of gossip. Chronic unusefuls: people that have a job that either doesn't matter or could be automated. They just makeup busywork. Once they hit 40 they make processes around their fake work. Friendly joes: The guys that always say hi to literally everyone, doesn't really do much but he's such a nice guy ya don't wanna fire him. Scammers: usually jeets but always managers or higher ups. People that are obviously either giving contracts to friends or scamming the company in some way, they get very defensive and will try to get you fired. Every office has some combo of the above with varying degrees. Other than the above most people are just boring randos that want to do their job and go home. Most of your work doesn't matter and most of your coworkers are boring.

I'm on a software engineering team. It's bouncing between meetings, design work, code reviews, and coding. Making sure everyone is aligned and on the same page is almost as important as writing the code itself.
