Are you responsible for where you end up in life?

Most homos should take the rope pill.

Ultimately we all have chosen implicitly to be slaves to this system otherwise you would give your life fighting it
>>
>>537013218
There are a multitude of reasons everyone ends up the way they are
You can't just make blanket statements to fit whatever narrative you are trying to push
>>
>>537013218
Nope. I adopted the normie mindset of blaming my fuck ups on everyone else and I'm a victim. It's pretty funny to throw it back in their face.
UH UH I'm an asshole because my daddeh was mean!!

What did she do with all of the money she earned?

And how does someone else having a trillion dollar estimated net worth have anything to do with that?

>Working for 37 years

I'm normally sympathetic, but how can you be working since 1989 and not own a home? House prices didn't sky rocket until the early 2000s.

Because the prices go up faster than you can save.

Yes and no. You could surely choose improve your life in many different ways every single day, but you won't. On the other hand, many people don't have to do those things either, and they get ahead anyway.
>>
>>537013710
Go through a few divorces, and you'll easily be destitute.
>>
>>537013218
You're responsible for grabbing opportunities when they present themselves and for optimizing your behavior and other variables in regards to the circumstances you are given. You are not however responsible for circumstantial things like where you were born, what parents you had, what opportunities exist, etc.
>>
>>537013710
Normgroids squander their 20s and 30s bumping uglies, doing drugs, partying, and getting married then divorce-raped (if male) then get the surprised Pikachu face when they're middle-aged with zero net worth (or negative net worth). Hedonism leads to poverty and disappointment 99% of the time, but when NPCs hit age 50 and reality comes crashing down, "muh billionaires" becomes the excuse par excellence.
>>
>>537014933
Not a single modern economy rewards saving your money. You cannot blame people for living in a system that's antagonistic to the simplest and most straightforward method of wealth accumulation. The average person is not taught about investing, as a result most of them turned to property, their house, as their main source of wealth holding.
>>
Not entirely. You have a very small amount of influence on your own life. Your parents, your environment and society at large are all bigger factors then your own conscious and unconscious decisions.
>>
>>537015173
You make valid points. Those points don't refute my point. Simpletons are the vast majority of the human population, and they make myopic high-time-preference decisions based on emotion and pleasure, rather than reason. Therefore, they suffer suboptimal results. This has been the case for the entirety of recorded human history.

Becoming a billionaire is statistically impossible for the vast majority of the human population. It's also true that avoiding a zero/negative net worth situation by age 50 is very easy with basic impulse control and delayed gratification.

Not as much as people like to believe.
If you don't have a good launchpad to start from when you step into adulthood, you are never, EVER, getting anywhere on your merits and work ethic alone. It takes luck at that point.
If you had a home to grow up in, if you finished highschool, if you can drive, and if you have some nearby friends/family, then you can start building something for yourself. If you're missing 2 or more of these, you're fucked. If you're missing all of them, you won't even be able to build a foundation and may as well eat a bullet unless luck casts a blessing on you.

It's why hotlines and rehab services for things like this are horseshit that often don't work. You need at least the pieces of a foundation to put a launchpad together. If you don't even have those, it's over before it even begins. I hate when the fortunate take pride in the success of others who carry them.

>despite working and getting the same money like others I wasted all of it
these disingenuous freaks will never own up to why their life sucks, why they never saved money, why they spent every cent of it as if it was their last day on Earth. They should have at least saved enough to buy the rope or pills.
>>
>>537015320
Once youre about 15, its all on you jackass. Personal responsibility kicks in as a teenager. You get a buffer zone and are required to have your shit together by 15. You wasted your formative years and formed into waste. It is what it is. You only have yourself to blame.

No.
Life for a man is a series of events that happen to you for which you have no authority, rights or means to change or fix.
Every facet of society stands ready to stop you from improving anything
You might be able to say that we were responsible in generations past.
Boomers have ZERO excuses, and their generation inflicted what is happening upon us and they deserve to go straight to hell.
The guy in OP is GenX so I have some sympathy for sure, they were the first generation the boomers fucked over.
By the time Millennials came around they had perfected it.

but you would already have the home, you would also have lower interest rates when they plummeted. Why exactly were people able to buy homes in the 1080's despite 15% interest rates (mortgages would be even higher)? The reality is even if a person continued on the lower scale of wages, never getting a promotion they should easily be able to own a home after 37 years. What of course happens is they never even attempted to do so, just rented and never saved. They then end up with nothing to show for 37 years of work, simply used to live and to party and consooom crap.

>>
>>537015173
complete BS. The money is saved to stop you spending it on crap. It earns a small amount of interest which even if it doesn't keep up with inflation it will still grow. you idiots actually think there is no point in saving and instead make a bee-line for Amazon and other crap.

>Why exactly were people able to buy homes in the 1080's
Back then they had guilds and one of the stipulations was that each construction worker would get a home out of the deal.

>Are you responsible for where you end up in life?
Intrinsically speaking, yes. You have to know what you're actively doing with yourself if you intend on making any level of progress in your life.
If you only make $400 a week working a 40 hour work week, you need to balance everything around that $400 while simultaneously setting aside enough to put some savings in your account.
>52 years old
>working since 15
>being generous at $12 minimum wage for the entirety of the last 38 years to account for taxation to still equal out to $400 a week
>would have made almost $800k over the last 38 years
>somehow couldn't find a way to put away even $20 every week into a savings account to have $40k in savings just on the $20
Ultimately sounds to me more like someone is bitching just to bitch.
