I’m schizo, and when I think about Malcolm X I usually get bombarded with gatekeeping, warnings, coercion, etc. But as an educated person I see him as a staunch representative of racial and social equity. He knew that ideas do not reach people, and employed inflammatory and outrageous rhetoric at times in the interest, not necessarily of instigating violence, disruption, fear, or civil war, but simply in order to underscore the importance of—firstly—racial equity and social and political change. He was a minister and highly intelligent, and he knew well when the things he was saying would come off as offensive. He predicted his own assassination and was brave enough to continue living the way he chose to.
