Just finished my engineering masters degree and I had a realization after all these years of math being shoved down my throat. It seems to me that muh math is believed to be a universal truth, describes the world etc etc. Yet whenever it breaks down in someway, we talk about it like it isn't a big deal. Like how can the infinite sum of 1/x^2 converge while 1/x diverge when you think about it logically? How can the sum of all the natural numbers be - 1/12 ? The Wright brothers didn't need to know wtf the navier stokes equations were to build their airplane, Michael Faraday didn't need to know what maxwell equations were to discover induction. Math is apeshit. It’s a tool that human beings use to break nature down to the limited scale of human perception. This is confirmed simply by the fact that numbers don’t work. Numbers are absolute bullshit. Numbers don’t explain nature; they merely bend nature so that human brains can work with it. They break down reality a little so that humans can create their own parallel reality within it. But it’s all apeshit. Numbers don’t work in reality. You can’t start with 0, because nothingness isn’t tangible. You can’t start with 1 either, because what is 1? 1 is already a conglomerate of many things, because every single thing consists of many things, which consist of many individual things, which each consist of many things, and so on and so forth. If we were REALLY calculating with reality, we wouldn’t do it with numbers, but with fractals. Everything else is apeshit.
