It's not like the olden days where med school was actually dirt fuckin' cheap, and they'd often take in "lessers" simply because they had potential and the field recognized that extensively as a good thing. You didn't need to make a fortune as a doctor back in the day, and they didn't. They only do in this day and age, and mostly only in the countries where med school is unreasonably costly. Quite frankly, med school programs should be subsidized by the government and made free, but have EXTREMELY harsh entry exams and grade requirements so only people who actually deserve to get in do. Granted, that should be how higher education works in general, but we don't live in the world of Should.
