Cultural practices that are bad for economic development (caste systems) or people themselves (FGM) generally produce far worse societies, and leftists in the third world generally vehemently oppose these things. Direct action is also a good thing to mention. Protectionism and partially state led development is generally good for creating upstart industry and kickstarting a transition to a developed economy. Not to mention things like literacy programs.

They go in and bulldoze some huts and start drilling. Locals protesting. Some get shot down. Oil spills. Oil catches fire. The whole village burns down. About half of the people manage to escape and now live in a neighboring village. The chief isn't happy about this. He goes to the oil corporation people and complains. This is my village he says, I'm the chief here, why didn't you ask my permission. You need to pay reparations. We will sue you in a London court. Now tell me where exactly is the communism in this? Because this is pretty much the third world in a nutshell.
