It’s paid by tax payer money so NO, it is not free
>>
>>537268411
how much are your health insurance premiums?
>>
>>537268658
see, we're paying for everyone who can't already through skyrocketed prices, but since it's not "taxes", that's okay

It’s the other way around. The pharmaceutical industry is subsidized by for-profit healthcare in the US. We’re the pay pigs for the entirety of Europe, Canada, and now Mexico.

Universal healthcare is paid for by the government. Everything is a government contract, and government contracts go to the lowest price. The only way to keep prices low for new drugs (or equipment; technology plays a part, too) is to charge more in other markets.

Think of this scenario. A new cancer drug hits the market. The previous drug is moderately successful, while the new drug is just as success but with far fewer side effects.

First, why did that person pharmaceutical company work night and day and pour millions into R&D for a new drug? Was it for charity, or to make billions? Without profit, there’s no incentive.

More importantly, why would a government cover the cost of this new drug if it’s vastly more expensive than the old drug? Both have the same effect: treatment for cancer. The only way it would even have a share of the market is if prices are comprable. The only way for prices to be comparable is to make it up somewhere else.

If it weren’t for the U.S.’ for-profit healthcare system, pharmaceutical and medical technology would have stalled 30 or 40 years ago.

it sounds very nice but here is how it works irl:
>you get a tummyache
>go to your free clinic
>because you are not an old woman or a child, spend anywhere from 2 to 6 hours waiting for your turn to get checked
>if they decide you have nothing you get some generic meds and you are told to come back if it doesnt improve
>if they decide you are really sick you get an appointment for labs in 8 days (its completely full) and are referred to the specialist in 2 weeks
>if you survive and have your labs correctly done the specialist will see you anywhere from 2 to 4 hours after your set appointment
>yes you have X but we are out of the expensive meds you supposedly get for free heres your prescription good luck
""""""Free""""" """"health""" """care"""""
If you are an old woman or a child you will have priority access to everything tho

Public health expenditures in the US dwarf that of every other country in the world (and yes, that’s per capita)

I guarantee you, some Squatamalan illegal would get seen first and cared for first over a native Mexican. That's how this clown show works in the West.

You pay more for drugs because of the packaging and the endless advertising.
>>
>>537271781
yeah, packaging and advertising don't account for the price differential
someone on medicaid pays $1 for a drug that costs someone not on medicaid over $100
the non-medicaid "customer" is clearly paying for both of them

>Freeeeeee
How unfortunate that their taxes have doubled. I'm sure this will result in good health care for the Juans and not a lower overall quality of care as money is funneled into jewish pockets at the state level rather then the private one.
