The modern politician’s entire system is abstract and simplified. Crime and prison overpopulation are presented as lines on a graph. To him, these lines carry no more significance than a report of the weather. Perhaps far less, since the weather may affect him personally. If crime is down, then he considers how the burden of prisons, punishing evildoers, may be alleviated. Releasing evil people into the world to kill and rape and enjoy freedom is the obvious solution because this makes the line go down.Economics is approached similarly. How do we make GDP go up? Import slave labor. How do we prevent global warming? Make giant windmills. How do we lower gun violence? Ban guns. Et cetera. These are all the simplest solutions that WORK IN ABSTRACT. Reality never occurs to this person, as he simply doesn’t care. He governs abstract principles, not reality. He is selfish. He lives in his own mind, for his own benefit.
